I am a student centered educator that uses many different methodologies for teaching to best meet the student's needs.I received my BA in News Editorial Journalism and Spanish from Central Michigan University and completed a graduate teacher licensure program at the University of Dayton. I also hold a Master's in PK-12 Spanish Education and a PK-12 Reading Endorsement from the University of Dayton. I will be Reading Recovery Certified in May 2020 through Wright State University. I am currently pursuing an Administrator's License with the University of Dayton beginning May 2020.I have tutored one-on-one in person for a private tutoring company for 2 years in Spanish. I also tutored students in an urban public school in reading during their school day for a year.I tutor all levels of Spanish, 1-AP and college level as well as elementary reading, preferably kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades.

Dear Reader,I am a Gates Cambridge Scholar and recently completed my MPhil in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge. This fall, I will begin my legal education at Yale Law School. I believe that my achievement on the LSAT and in the law school application process, as well as my two years’ worth of part-time tutoring experience, have enabled me to help others successfully navigate the process of preparing for a legal education.In the summer of 2014, I started preparing for the LSAT while working full-time at a think tank in Washington, DC. I attended a few prep courses, but primarily self-studied, relying exclusively on prep books. I worked through every page of them and completed nearly every practice LSAT test available. I can confidently say that I owe my 173 score to the methods I picked up along the way and have become intimately familiar with. As a tutor, I am more than capable of teaching those methods to those who need it, as well as helping them work through particularly difficult questions in prep books and practice tests.My success in the law school application process, including acceptances to Yale, Harvard, and Stanford, and a Hamilton Fellowship offer from Columbia, demonstrates my ability to craft a strong personal statement and resume, and solicit powerful letters of recommendation. I like to teach by using examples and supplemental materials where needed. Where the students leads me to the final answer, with me filling in any areas they do not understand, I feel as if the tutoring session is a lot more beneficial to them. I am very patient and always willing to explain something in different ways if the first way does not make sense. I think it is wonderful when a student takes ownership of their learning and is excited to learn new material! I then played professionally for the next four years.I returned to college to get a degree in Elementary Education. I taught school for the next eleven years. I earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education during this time. I then went back to school to be certified to teach math in high school. I taught math and moved through several school districts. I then returned to college to work on my Ph. D.I finished up teaching as a professor at the University of Akron.I've picked up a lot of hobbies, I guess that's what they are, scuba diving, flying, traveling, skiing and shooting. Due to a disability, I am not able to participate in those activities any longer. However I still fly radio control aircraft, read and play trumpet.I have tutored off an on over the entire time I have taught. Sometimes to help the student catch up, sometimes to keep the student up and sometimes to show the student new ares to explore.

In college, I tutored peers on study skills and organizational habits. As a graduate student, I worked as a teaching assistant through the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth at Princeton University, teaching a high school Epidemiology course. Professionally, I've tutored children on the Autism spectrum with additional learning disabilities including ADHD and Dyslexia.I earned a Bachelor's of Arts (BA) at Case Western Reserve University in Medical Anthropology and Cognitive Science.
