Dear Reader,I am a Gates Cambridge Scholar and recently completed my MPhil in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge. This fall, I will begin my legal education at Yale Law School. I believe that my achievement on the LSAT and in the law school application process, as well as my two years’ worth of part-time tutoring experience, have enabled me to help others successfully navigate the process of preparing for a legal education. In the summer of 2014, I started preparing for the LSAT while working full-time at a think tank in Washington, DC. I attended a few prep courses, but primarily self-studied, relying exclusively on prep books. I worked through every page of them and completed nearly every practice LSAT test available. I can confidently say that I owe my 173 score to the methods I picked up along the way and have become intimately familiar with. As a tutor, I am more than capable of teaching those methods to those who need it, as well as helping them work through particularly difficult questions in prep books and practice tests. My success in the law school application process, including acceptances to Yale, Harvard, and Stanford, and a Hamilton Fellowship offer from Columbia, demonstrates my ability to craft a strong personal statement and resume, and solicit powerful letters of recommendation. I am more than happy to mentor students through the application process to help them do the same.As a volunteer with Moneythink, a non-profit, I spent tens of hours in under-resourced schools in Chicago mentoring students in financial literacy. I worked with students of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and of varying academic abilities. I know how to adapt my teaching methods and explanations to meet my students at their level, wherever that may be.As a tutor, I am confident that I can help my students meet their potential.Yours sincerely,Yusef Al-Jarani

ACT Prep Tutor • +27 Subjects
I like to teach by using examples and supplemental materials where needed. Where the students leads me to the final answer, with me filling in any areas they do not understand, I feel as if the tutoring session is a lot more beneficial to them. I am very patient and always willing to explain something in different ways if the first way does not make sense. I think it is wonderful when a student takes ownership of their learning and is excited to learn new material! I have been tutoring and teaching for the past 6 years and I currently have a job as a remote tutor at my university's homework helpline. I can tutor Beginning Java (AP CompSci), Phonics, Elementary and Middle School Math, Algebra 1 and 2, Reading, and Science, and edit essays

I am a graduate from Arizona State University where I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degree in history. I have worked as a tutor for over 10 years helping students of from elementary level to master's program students. I am passionate about learning and feel that our journey as students never truly ends. My favorite thing to happen while tutoring is when I see a student become inspired and passionate about the topic. Removing the barriers to understanding they had before so they can become the best student they can be is a true joy for me. I remember distinctly all the tutors and teachers who helped shape the person I am today and I hope that my work may affect another so significantly. In my spare time I enjoy reading romance novels and watching TikTok. I also garden and work out regularly.

Hi my name is Roy. I'd like to tell you about me. I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. I was an only child with two wonderful parents. I enjoyed growing up there had great friends, a bike and a dog.It was understood that I was to go to college. That was my first step after high school. Before finishing college I enlisted in the US Navy and for the fours years played trumpet in the Navy Band. I then played professionally for the next four years.I returned to college to get a degree in Elementary Education. I taught school for the next eleven years. I earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education during this time. I then went back to school to be certified to teach math in high school. I taught math and moved through several school districts. I then returned to college to work on my Ph. D.I finished up teaching as a professor at the University of Akron.I've picked up a lot of hobbies, I guess that's what they are, scuba diving, flying, traveling, skiing and shooting. Due to a disability, I am not able to participate in those activities any longer. However I still fly radio control aircraft, read and play trumpet.I have tutored off an on over the entire time I have taught. Sometimes to help the student catch up, sometimes to keep the student up and sometimes to show the student new ares to explore.

I believe education is essential to maintaining both individual fortitude and strengthening the wellbeing of community. We all deserve to learn in the way that best engages us and the world around us.I've worked with students as a tutor in high school through the National Honors Society. In college, I tutored peers on study skills and organizational habits. As a graduate student, I worked as a teaching assistant through the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth at Princeton University, teaching a high school Epidemiology course. Professionally, I've tutored children on the Autism spectrum with additional learning disabilities including ADHD and Dyslexia.I earned a Bachelor's of Arts (BA) at Case Western Reserve University in Medical Anthropology and Cognitive Science. I earned my Master of Arts (MA) degree, also at CWRU School of Medicine, in Bioethics and Medical Humanities. I'm still deciding whether to go back to school to pursue a PhD in either Special Education or Disability Studies.I tutor reading, writing, history, science, humanities, social studies, math, and more specific topics including research techniques, anthropology, and journalism.I love tutoring in history and social studies because, while many believe history is written in stone, there are so many nuances to continually discover. Human biases exist everywhere, even in subjects seeming as concrete as science. It's fun to peel back the layers of why or how something was written or "discovered."In my tutoring, I prioritize open and honest communication. I welcome all types of feedback. I want to make sure each student is connecting to the material in the way that works best for their unique learning style. I don't show or tolerate any form of disrespect or discrimination.
