I am a current Junior at New York University. I am studying to receive my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama with a minor in mathematics. While I enjoy helping students with a broad range of subjects, I find that I am most passionate about ACT Prep and Calculus. I have experience working with students of all ages and abilities. I know from experience that each student will comprehend the material differently, and my job is to find the best way for the student to understand. This has increased my skill in demonstrating procedural activities as well as offering multiple alternatives to obtain the same result, and establishing a more efficient way to deliver training information.My passion is mainly Biology and Chemistry, but I enjoy assisting in the understanding of a variety of topics and am more than willing to offer what I know.Beyond that, I have been a tutor for my niece from grade 2 to grade five. This including a range of topics increasing in difficulty over the years, such as basic spelling, vocabulary, reading and arithmetics, ultimately evolving to include more than just the core classes.

I have been tutoring for many years both privately and more formally in the classroom setting, focusing mainly on students in grades 9-12 (although I have worked with essentially all ages). In my career-plan, I am aiming to become a professor and researcher in the sciences and psychology--this is derived from my love of teaching and inspiring passion in others for what they may not naturally find interesting. I especially know, very well, what admissions committees are looking for, and I have facilitated the acceptance of many students (who struggled considerably with academics and standardized tests) into ivy league and other top tier schools. I am a mechanical engineering student at Stony Brook University in an accelerated B.E./M.S. program. Currently I am finishing up both of my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I decided to become a tutor because I love academia, and I use math as well as physics daily. After my first few sessions I came to love it, and I have been doing it for a number of years now. I have tutored students ranging from elementary school through college, but my favorite level to help students is high school. In my sessions I like to show students the reason behind everything. I believe if you know why you're doing something, you can more easily understand how to do it. When I have some free time I like to work on small engineering projects. I just got my hands on a programmable micro-controller, and I have been making it do some pretty neat things! I also like to go biking.

In 2008 I was a corps member at City Year Boston in which I taught literacy to disadvantaged students. Soon after, I joined Teach For America in 2009 as a corps member and worked in the Boston Public School system. I was lucky enough to teach a range of grades (Grade 2-8) in both public and private school settings.I enjoy teaching, moreover I love READING! Literacy is my passion. Teaching kids to read is a difficult task; there is no one magic bullet. There are many factors I target while teaching or supporting a struggling/reluctant reader. I also try to instill a joy of reading to struggling/reluctant readers by exposing the student to different types of literature and using other methods. I tutor students as an opportunity to reach more students and support them with reading. I look forward to working with your child.
