I have a Masters of Science degree from Boston University Business School and a Bachelors of Science degree from Fordham University majoring in Business Administration. At Brooklyn Technical High School, I was on the Math Team and actively participated in many competitions, such as the AMC and the Moody's Mega Math Challenge. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Contemporary Studies and Leadership at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2011. I am currently working towards my alternative teacher’s certification for the state of Texas through Texas Teachers ACP. I expect to be certified as a grade 4-8 generalist by the end of summer 2014 but will continue to work towards upper level elective certifications including history, language arts, and German.During my college years, I volunteered in multiple student centered capacities including spring break arts and crafts programs. I also trained first year college journalism students for the school paper. Now I volunteer at several area elementary schools as I work towards my teaching certificate.While I can tutor a multitude of subjects, my favorite subjects to tutor are German – all levels, Social Studies/History, and English Language Arts. I took German throughout my school years and had the opportunity to live in Germany for four years. I love studying the various similarities between German and English as well as the fact that Germans have a word for everything! I like to consider myself a pretty big history buff – I love learning about ancient cultures and their effect on our very own culture. Finally, I have always had a knack for reading and writing … my years working in the newspaper field only made me love the English language more.My teaching style is heavily influenced by Howard Gardner's multiple intelligences. I like to tailor my lessons to the learning style of the student, especially when dealing with building block knowledge. I also believe that learning should be interactive and exploratory allowing the student to continuously build on existing knowledge.Outside of academia, I love arts and crafts. I knit, sew, and work with clay whenever I have some spare time. I also garden. I love cooking and baking.

I lived and worked in Germany for 20 years. I married a German man, and we had 3 beautiful children in Frankfurt. I worked for well known German corporations and had the wonderful opportunity to live and work within the German culture and language. I worked with Berlitz language school for a few years and learned valuable teaching skills specifically designed to teach students of all ages to learn a second language. I loved that job!! It provided me a rich experience that I was then able to bring with me into following companies. Would like the opportunity to share that once again.

I am a senior at St. Olaf College and will graduate in May of 2016 with degrees in Economics & Psychology with a minor in Management. I have currently accepted a job serving as an investment management consultant in Boston, MA. I am passionate about teaching and enjoy helping students prepare and succeed in academics. I especially enjoy helping students study for standardized tests. A lot of high school is spent prepping for college and with proper instruction anyone can get into the college of their dreams. I believe that I can help students achieve their goals. In addition to standardized test preparation my passions lie in public speaking and management. Beyond academics I love traveling, cooking, reading, and scuba diving!

My interest in numbers led me to a bachelor's degree in Actuarial science and a master's in Statistics with the focus on data analysis. I was on the Dean's Student Awards List the entire undergraduate years and in honor college during the first two years of study. While exploring my passion for statistics during my master's degree, I also have taken part in various financial classes and machine learning classes at Columbia.

I am a proud graduate of Lee University, receiving my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration with a minor in biblical studies. During my time there, I traveled extensively and was involved in several social service clubs, campus choir, and I also volunteered my time at the local Boys and Girls club to assist the kiddos with their homework assignments. Upon graduation, I began a career as a financial professional, where I advised families, individuals, and businesses by taking complex (and often confusing) financial subject matter and breaking them down into simple steps. I've always been passionate about learning, and I believe any subject (yes, even the "boring" ones) if given proper care and attention can bring a profound sense of achievement and meaning to our lives.
