AP German Language and Culture Tutor • +22 Subjects
The German language is a language that is not commonly used in the U.S.A. however, it is good language to have on you when traveling to German speaking nations. The reason for this, is because the more effort you put towards the language and the people who speak it, the better your trip there will be. You like it when people know how to speak English? Now wouldn't it be wonderful if you could speak German?!German is set-up just like English, except the main verb goes at the end. So, there isn't much trouble there. However, the words are very long and complex. I remember being in my first German class and we learned the longest German word, and I thought to myself, why would I want to learn this language? Nonetheless, I stuck with it, and am glad I did, because when I figured out how their words worked I fell in love with the language! Now, I know that you are looking for the right person to teach you the German language... I have a ton of background in languages. I have taken Spanish, French, Russian, Swedish, Old English and Middle English before, along with German. I try to speak each of them or read some sort of material within them every month. However, I have chosen German to be my main Tutoring language because of living in Germany, where I picked up the do's and don'ts of the language.I hope that you will choose me, as your tutor. Thanks for checking me out and have a wonderful day. Take care.

ACT Writing Tutor • +11 Subjects
I've been passionate about the English language for my entire life. The seeds were planted, with the help of Thomas the Tank Engine, while I sat in my mom's lap. My dad's languorous voice reciting his poetry provided constant nutrition while my parents' help in editing my essays was the trellis. I came into my own throughout college, blooming from the start until the final period on my honors thesis. My capacity for reading and writing make me an excellent tutor for all things English. I've won essay contests and published the previously alluded to honors thesis. I graduated with distinction in my major and a GPA above 3.8 from a rigorous school: Whitman College. I took courses in tutoring writing and have taught numerous students in the past. I am an exceptional editor; talented at complimenting and fostering strengths while maintaining a sharp eye for mistakes and opportunities for improvement. I can help take a poor piece of writing and make it good. But where I truly excel is in my ability to take decent writing and make it powerful. I know how to wield syntax and descriptive language such that a piece becomes succinct and clear. This enables the author to get their point across exactly as they intend, and to do it succinctly enough to hold the reader's undivided attention. This sort of writing does the work for the reader, bringing them exactly where the author wants them to go. The reader would likely not be able to put their finger on it, but it is this level of behind the scenes writing mechanics that makes a piece truly great. This knowledge was hard earned. In the arduous process of learning I discovered and was taught many techniques that helped me along the way, and that I am now able to pass along to students of my own. And writing ability cannot be attained without the accompaniment of reading. My writing first developed out of my strength at reading comprehension and ability to critically pick apart a text. This too is a skill I know how to foster in students. And for the cherry on top, in the reading and writing sections of both the SAT and ACT I received a perfect score.I am experienced and talented at meeting students where they are at, and communicating with them in the way they need in order to develop into skilled users of language. My assistance as your tutor will be invaluable.

I am a freshman studying Computer Science at Northeastern University's school of Computer and Information Science. In High School I was an AP Scholar with distinction, a title earned for scoring above average on 7 AP tests. As a Senior in High School while taking AP Calculus AB, I was a peer tutor in my school's Pre-Calculus course. Other tutoring experience comes from volunteering to help my peers in their math and Computer Science classes. I am an avid programmer with experience across a wide range of technologies and languages, including NodeJS, MySQL, C, C++, and Objective C. Most of my experience in Computer Science comes from personal projects and my own curiosity. Learning new things is my favorite pastime, and I'd like to share that feeling with others as much as I can. When tutoring students, I work to give them a taste of the joy I experience when faced with new knowledge. Anyone can learn to love the education they receive both in and out of the classroom.

AP Physics 2 Tutor • +17 Subjects
I have 10 years of experience tutoring/teaching undergraduate students in math/physics at the University of Illinois at Chicago while obtaining a PhD in physics. I've also tutored college and high school students through the African American Academic Network at UIC and the Columbia College Upward Bound program. Having come from a family of teachers, I've always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with others and helping them reach their goals in education. I believe teaching is an art form, and I am always working to improve every aspect of my teaching style; I've found success by carefully listening to each student's questions to gain an understanding of which methods will work best for that particular student. In addition, having worked for six years as a mechanical engineer before pursuing my PhD, I can offer insight into the real world as well as guidance on possible career choices.

One of the most important skills necessary to being a tutor is the ability to convey difficult topics in a tangible, easy-to-understand manner. That is a skill I possess in spades. I have the drive necessary in order to make sure that each student I work with gains a mastery over their subjects, and always try to use real-world examples in order to ensure that my students are able to understand even more complex concepts. I am both patient and eager to help each of my students, and will always go the extra mile.

I am a currently a student. During college, I studied biology and economics and minored in math. I love math and the sciences and those are my favorite subjects to tutor. There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing my students explain a concept that was previously confusing for them. My teaching strategy relies heavily on understanding my students' learning styles and catering tutoring sessions to best fit how my students like to learn. When working through practice problems, I enjoy using the "teach-back" method to enhance repetition and to ensure that my students really understand the concepts. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy baking desserts, reading novels, and sketching cartoons.
