I've always been passionate about sharing knowledge with students. I love learning new things, and I really enjoy helping students do the same. Every day we see statistics in the real world, and I like that I get to teach students how to interpret and analyze that information from a mathematical perspective.I recognize that some people really struggle with mathematics. Sometimes math can seem like learning a new language. As a tutor and instructor, my goal is to give students the tools needed to connect and build on ideas, rather than just memorizing formulas. I like to keep students involved by asking questions. I also want my students to ask me questions. Together we work together to put the ideas in the simplest terms.I enjoy activities that involve problem solving, like jigsaw puzzles. I also like baking treats, and eating them! Plus I'm a big fan of board games and trivia nights with friends.

I am presently a Professor of History at three colleges and have worked at the Junior High through High School Level for many years.I love History but I am not tied to the pursuit of trivial facts that waste a lot of time in history course. I prefer to discuss the key ideas because I believe that if a student can understand a basic concept that he or she will succeed.I have access to numerous powerpoints and videos that will help my lessons interesting. Imagine Lady Gaga singing about the French Revolution or Taylor Swift with a song about the American Revolution.My concern will only be my student's success but I also make sure to communicate with parents.

I attended DePaul University, and in December, I received a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a concentration in Literary Studies, and French. During my time at DePaul, I was a Writing Center Tutor at the University Center for Writing-based Learning. There, I worked with students from a variety of disciplines on their writing. For example, I tutored freshman who were working on rhetorical analyses as well as senior psychology majors working on personal statements for grad school. The diversity of writing I worked with fostered a sense of adaptability in me that I bring to every new tutoring session. I also tutored English Language Learners, focusing more on the technical aspects of language and honing their speaking skills. I tutor any subject under the broad spectrum of English: college writing, reading comprehension, literary analyses, speech and argumentative writing, and so forth. I also tutor French! I received my degree in French and spent a semester abroad in Paris, where I lived with a host family and soaked in the culture, like a slice of baguette bread mopping up a delicious sauce.My tutoring style is direct but not overbearing: I know how to direct students to the right answer, but I will do so through leading questions, providing examples, or referencing rules or conventions that the student has learned previously. For the latter, I scored in the 98th percentile of the LSAT and achieved admission to a a top-25 law school with a generous scholarship.It's tremendously fulfilling to see students grow as writers and as thinkers as they progress through a curriculum, something I am very fortunate to witness.
