I am a lover of learning and helping others learn. As a student, I have had great success at rigorous and selective schools, earning my Bachelor's with High Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from Swarthmore College and my Master's with perfect grades from Brown University. Since leaving formal education, I continue to pursue learning opportunities through independent reading and professional development. I often tell my students that learning is my addiction, as many make fun of my choices for "fun" reading. As a teacher, I am certified to teach Social Studies grades 7-12 and currently teach high school social studies. I have additional experience teaching elementary school students, middle school school students, and adult learners. With my training from Brown as well as ongoing training from the Rhode Island Department of Education and other reputable providers, I continue to hone my abilities to facilitate the learning process for students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. I believe in personalized teaching that allows students to build confidence and excitement about a given subject while also seeing its immediate relevance to their lives.

I am about to graduate from Brown University with a B.A. in Education Studies. I love working with students one-on-one and helping them feel like they can tackle challenging material. In the past I have tutored elementary school students in English and Math, middle school students in English as a second language, and helped peers in an informal context. My experiences teaching visual art and dance classes have also helped me develop creative and engaging ways to present information. While I tutor many different subjects, I am particularly excited about working with students on writing and French. I have studied French for 11 years and lived abroad in a Francophone country, and I am a total geek when it comes to French grammar. Similarly, I love playing with and examining the English language, whether in preparation for the reading section of a Standardized Test or for a college essay. I believe that students learn best when they are able to uncover the "why," not just the "what," and it is my goal to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. In my free time, I enjoy making pottery, swing dancing, and experimenting in the kitchen.

I'm an electrical engineering major at Brown University with interests in neuroscience, linguistics, and robotics, among other things. I've always loved learning, and my curiosity has led me through numerous subject areas. I constantly seek to apply my classroom learning in practical situations. For example, I have conducted research on dementia using electrophysiology in a mollusk model. I participate in hackathons and robotics challenges that test not only my programming ability but also my hardware skills as a tinkerer. My engineering pursuits require a strong foundation in mathematics, my interest in the life sciences calls for a myriad of memorization techniques, and my participation in the academic world at large reminds me daily of the importance of sharp writing skills. I hope to share some of these things, both content and technique, with my students. Though I will make sure that they can come away from each session armed with the skills needed to take on the modern education system, I also hope that they will take with them some appreciation for learning itself.

I am a graduate of Brown University, where I earned my B.A. in Literary Arts and Visual Arts, taking courses in a wide array of subjects ranging from contemporary American fiction to ancient Indian classics. My first teaching experience came in college when I had the privilege of creating and teaching a series of literature courses at a local community center. There are few experiences I find more enriching than facilitating a meaningful dialogue centered around great works of literature and art. While literature and art are my passion, I also tutor in variety of other subjects, including math, science, and test preparation. I currently work as a lead teacher in the after-school program at Archway Classical Academy in Phoenix.

I am a recent graduate of Brown University with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Classics and Slavic Studies but an emphasis on theater. A lot of my time at Brown was spent serving on the board of Shakespeare on the Green, Brown's only site-specific student theater group; I even assistant directed a production of Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale" in the Fall of my senior year. I tutor a very broad range of subjects, but my preferences lie with the liberal arts (English, writing, reading, history, etc.). That said, I also enjoy the sensation of testing myself that I experience when doing math problems: I find satisfaction in solving a problem. That applies to standardized tests, as well, which have the added bonus of being a race against time. In short: I enjoy a good challenge, and the biggest challenge out there (in my opinion) is education. Education is the pathway to intellectual curiosity which hopefully can continue to define more and more people. Seeking to understand is what makes us human after all. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy curling up by the fire with a good book and a cat, watching and talking about TV or movies, Boston sports, science-fiction, anime, running, cooking and eating food, and, of course, long walks on the beach. I am training to be a professional actor, and my goal is to one day be conversational in French, Russian, and Japanese which will either be very useful or no help at all when I set off to help colonize Mars. All jokes aside, I am very excited to begin tutoring.

I am French American , born and raised near Paris and with a bachelor's degree from Brown University. I have been tutoring and teaching French for a while now and hope to continue sharing my love for the French language and culture with students for many more years to come! I am an undergraduate at Brown University concentrating in Education and American Studies. I am currently a neuroscience PhD student at Columbia University. I majored in English and Psychology from Brown University, with a 4.0 and honours in Psychology. Following this, I worked at a lab at UPenn for three years, slowly transitioning to software engineering and computational neuroscience.

I am a student at Brown University, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in psychology. I employ a student-centered approach to tutoring, grounding the session in the student's knowledge of what topics it would be most beneficial to review. I typically begin a session by asking a student if there is any material they have learned since the previous session whose reasoning they would like for me to walk them through. I then help the student work through problems or questions that employ that understanding. My favorite subject to tutor is math; I love helping students understand the logic of a subject in which they may have been relying for years on memorization. I have been tutoring since 2016, and I have experience teaching math, science, language arts, history, French, and study skills to students in elementary, middle, and high school. I currently focus on math (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry), English, test prep, and essay writing.
