About Me

I am a professional fan of the English language and of writing! I graduated from Rutgers University with a BFA in Acting, and after trying my hand at that in New York City for a few years, found my way into the Master's in Teaching program at The New School. I landed a position teaching at a high school in Queens, where I taught Honor's English, 11th grade English, and AP Literature. I then moved to Westchester County and taught for two years in a high school there, working once again with 11th graders and Freshmen. During my 10 year teaching tenure, I engaged in a lot of one on one conferencing of essays with my students, and coached many Seniors on their college application essays. I left the classroom to raise my three children; now that they are in school, I am delighted to be doing what I love--working with students to develop their writing styles, to clarify their thinking, and to get their ideas down on paper in creative, precise, and expressive language. I am an avid reader and writer myself, when I am not kid-wrangling. My other hobbies and interests include yoga, which I practice and teach, kickboxing, dance, running, knitting, audiobook narrating, and cooking.
