I am a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am working towards a BFA in Dance and Choreography with minors in Political Science and Psychology. I have served as a TA for a freshman honors writing course at VCU since Fall 2018. I have also assisted and taught children's dance classes. I enjoy babysitting and helping my younger sister with her homework. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math, Science, and Psychology. I am also happy to help students prepare for Standardized Tests, particularly with the math portions of the exams. I have always felt respect and admiration towards my teachers in both smaller and more grand situations who have shaped me into the lifelong learner that I am. As a tutor, my goal is to make good on this foundation and show students the same courtesy my teachers have shown me.

I am currently studying English literature and secondary education at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. I love Game of Thrones, Warhammer, and YouTube channels about world travel and languages. I am currently learning Spanish and Arabic, and I hope to be fluent in both someday. My biggest bucket list item is to travel to Bolivia and see the Salar de Uyuni. I have had extensive experience as a tutor of all ages, from helping kindergarteners learn to read and write English to working with adult students on their term papers for college. I am available to tutor reading, writing, basic Spanish, SAT/ACT prep, algebra, geometry, and study skills. As your tutor, my goal is to provide you with the tools to catch your own mistakes rather than just correcting them myself. I want to help you grow as a learner so you can use your own strengths to master the material.

Timing is everything on SAT Math, and Joseph teaches students to recognize which problems deserve full work and which can be solved with strategic back-substitution or estimation. His own 1450 SAT score came from the kind of deliberate practice he now applies to quadratic modeling, systems of inequalities, and data interpretation questions. He holds a 5.0 client rating.

I am a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Duke University. I received my Bachelor's degree in History and my Master's degree in Religious Studies. Since graduation I have tutored students in American History and Biblical Hebrew, which were exceedingly rewarding experiences. I am especially passionate in helping students learn to think critically, and enjoy the process of learning. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most enthusiastic about tutoring in History and Writing because these subjects utilize skills that students will use and cultivate throughout their lives and are applicable for many careers. I would describe my teaching philosophy as hands on and project-based learning. I strive to include fun and relevant videos, songs, and activities into my curriculum to ensure the engagement of my students. Outside of academia I like painting, baking, hiking, photography, and having game nights with friends.

I am graduate from UNC Chapel Hill where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I am also a member of Mensa and enjoy exercising and playing basketball or tennis in my free time.

Having scored 1470 on the SAT, Michael knows the math section's emphasis on data interpretation, multi-step algebra, and the handful of advanced concepts that separate a good score from a great one. I am a second-year college student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have previous tutoring experience and I have learned numerous skills and techniques that will help you grow as a student. Hunter earned a 1420 SAT and developed strategies for recognizing which tool each problem calls for — whether it's setting up a system of equations or reading a scatterplot trend. He walks through each question type so students build speed without sacrificing accuracy.

I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.

I am an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a pre-medicine track, majoring in Health Policy and Management, and minoring in Medical Spanish and Education! I am a National Merit Scholar as well as a Carolina Research Scholar. I'm originally from Brookline, MA and I've been a tutor for about five years now. I work a lot with elementary/middle school kids as both a volunteer and at Kumon, and I have also peer tutored at my high school in honors biology, chemistry, math, and Spanish. Primarily specializing in ACT test prep, I've improved many of my clients' scores by 3 or more points, and helped all of my students achieve their ACT goals. In my free time, I love singing with my a cappella group, the UNC Loreleis, swimming, hanging out with my friends, traveling, going on runs, and petting every dog I see.
