I am a senior at MIT majoring in Writing with a specialization in Digital Media. I have also completed a minor in Business Management. As one of ten writing majors at a school full of people pursuing science and technology rather than humanities subjects, I have taken a default position as tutor for anyone struggling with any writing assignments. I have helped fellow college students on a wide variety assignments ranging from analytic papers on race in the media, to papers on scientific theories, to scholarship essays. In high school I was a Link Crew tutor for three years, making myself available for tutoring sessions after school for whatever subject students required help in.

I'm Scotty! I am currently a senior at Harvard College pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a secondary (minor) in Theater, Dance, and Media. I know full well that struggling with course material is tricky to navigate; I have not always felt comfortable going straight to the professor or teacher to ask for help. That's why I love tutoring - I aim to be a helpful resource for students, blending the toughness of a coach with the warmth and comfort of a friend to provide the best atmosphere for those I tutor.
I am a graduate of Brown University, where I earned my B.A. in Literary Arts and Visual Arts, taking courses in a wide array of subjects ranging from contemporary American fiction to ancient Indian classics. My first teaching experience came in college when I had the privilege of creating and teaching a series of literature courses at a local community center. There are few experiences I find more enriching than facilitating a meaningful dialogue centered around great works of literature and art. While literature and art are my passion, I also tutor in variety of other subjects, including math, science, and test preparation. I currently work as a lead teacher in the after-school program at Archway Classical Academy in Phoenix.
I am a graduate of Oberlin College and Wesleyan University and I am currently a PhD student at Harvard University. I received my BA in English, my BM in Jazz Studies, and my MA in Ethnomusicology. My PhD research is in West African music. I have many years of experience as a tutor, beginning as a writing tutor for a college writing center, then giving private music lessons, and working as a teaching assistant for undergraduate students in music and African studies courses. I tutor in many different areas, but my passion is in working with students in writing, literature, critical reading, music, and French. In working to prepare students for standardized tests, I can offer a wide variety of strategies for vocabulary, writing, and time management. As an educator, I am particularly interested in the transitions from high school to college, and from college into the professional world. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing and listening to music, hiking, playing soccer, and spending time outdoors.
I am a sophomore at Dartmouth College with extensive tutoring experience in grades 4th-10th. I graduated Rye Country Day School in 2019 having taken 10 AP classes in subjects across the board. In high school, I led three after school enrichment tutoring programs for middle school students. On the side, I independently tutored 9th and 10th grade high school students with a particular focus in writing. I have developed an effective method of developing students' expository essay writing skills, and it is so rewarding to see students' pride in their personal improvement. I am comfortable tutoring in a wide variety of subjects, and my greatest strengths are high school writing and middle school mathematics. My enthusiasm and love for learning is contagious, and there is never a dull moment in my tutoring sessions!
I'm comfortable tutoring on a number of subjects, I particularly enjoy teaching English, writing, and critical reading. I like working one on one with students, helping them to think through problems, formulate opinions, and articulate their thoughts. This involves working on vocabulary, grammar, and writing mechanics. These are invaluable skills, essential for writing essays and preparing for Standardized Tests, like the SAT.
I am a graduate of Loyola Marymount University with an undergraduate degree in Spanish, and I am currently a visual artist pursuing further studies in digital and web design.
I am currently a high school counselor and the combination of all of my experience gives me a unique window into the world of education and college entrance. My experience, combined with my doctoral degree with a focus on learning disabilities, allows me a varied perspective while working with children. I work with the whole child and pride myself ion being able to meet each of my students where they are while pushing them to achieve more than they ever thought possible. As a mother of two children with dyslexia, I have seen first hand, the frustration and struggles that accompany learning challenges and I am here to help. In addition to my experience in education, I have also been writing for over 30 years and have had articles and poems published in multiple magazines and journals and have co-authored several medical journal articles related to food allergy and bullying and have also published two books about counseling and learning disabilities through Routledge Press.

I'm a rising Junior at the University of Chicago studying Computational Neurosciences and Fundamentals: Literature & Philosophy. I've tutored 7th and 8th graders in Basic Algebra and essay construction and taught undergraduates Biostatistics and the literature of Valdimir Nabokov, so I'm prepared to work with any age or skill level. When I'm not tutoring this summer, I'll be doing electrophysiological research at NYU's Center for Neural Science and preparing to write my BA on James Joyce's Ulysses. I'm extremely versatile with expertise in a range of subjects and really enjoy helping students learn.
