I am currently an Undergraduate Freshman at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) studying Biomedical Engineering on a Pre-Medical track. I tutor mostly math-related subjects, such as Calculus and Linear Algebra. I push hard in my personal work to gain a strong, conceptual backing for almost all subjects, and am able to help others efficiently with this. Understanding material conceptually, rather than analytically, is vital to being able to think and apply knowledge. This is my learning and teaching philosophy. I am a public school reading teacher in the elementary grades. I have a passion for educating young people and guiding them to academic success, either in or outside of the classroom. I have experience as a classroom teacher and a private tutor, in subjects that range from Reading and Writing to History and French. In my opinion, the path to obtaining a good education is formed by hard work, diligence, persistence, and an open mind. I work on a daily basis to instill these qualities in my students and tutees. I also believe that forming meaningful relationships with my students creates an environment in which learning is the goal. In my spare time, I enjoy running, golf, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

I am a graduate of the University of Maryland, with degrees in physics, astronomy, and studio art. During my time at university I was a member of the Physic Education Research group, conducting studies into the best methods of math and physics pedagogy. Although I am most accomplished in physical science education, my methods are applicable to all kinds of science. I have also studied history and literature extensively as a matter of personal passion. My goals as a tutor reach beyond simply grasping the material at the level which it is presented--I aim to give students the intellectual and emotional tools to grasp underlying principles of any field, and the confidence to believe that this is something they can achieve under their own power. I am currently working on getting my Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Adelphi University. I have worked as a school counselor for the past 9 years. I am a life-long learner and am interested in helping others deal with their academic difficulties and become excited about their own learning. I am passionate about English, Literature, History, and Latin and helping others improve in these areas.

I am a post-baccalaureate student at the University of Pennsylvania. Because I see myself primarily as a philologist, I am studying in order to enter a Ph.D program. I believe that language is one of the primary factors in shaping how we, as individuals, think and present our ideas to the world. I am also a proponent of teaching Classical languages such as Latin and Ancient Greek to students in high school because these languages require the development of analytic capabilities which are sometimes lacking in other more memory-oriented subjects. Furthermore, my education in the Classics does not only focus on linguistics but also on history, mythology, and culture. I studied abroad in Rome for five months in the Spring semester of 2011 through the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies. During my time in Rome, I learned Italian, got to see landmarks of antiquity such as the Roman Forum, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Syracuse, Baiae, and see Medieval Italy through the artworks of Michelangelo and Bernini. Consequentially, I have a strong grasp of historical occurrences in Europe from antiquity to contemporary society. As a tutor, I intend to give a holistic and comprehensive approach to learning new subjects. Hobbies: reading, music, writing, art, books

I am a passionate problem-solver but patient and flexible with my teaching pace. In terms of tutoring style, I like to prepare a comprehensive review of the topics students are struggling with. I also like to bring in outside resources and review questions that mirror the material so students have more practice to fully master the material.

I am a junior at Columbia University double majoring in Financial Engineering and Computer Science. Since high school, I have extensively tutored French students for standardized testing (SAT/ACT). This helped me bridge the obvious language gap whilst breaking down the tests into their fundamentals to better grasp the strategy behind them. I firmly believe in learning-by-doing which is why I encourage all my students to try first before revising their methods and understanding of the subjects. I am fluent in French, Arabic, Hebrew, and English which I believe helps me communicate the very essence of the subject as opposed to a numbered list of tasks which might not help all types of students. In my spare time, I enjoy catching up on the Financial Times, trying my hand at new languages and designing clothing. Hobbies: reading, music, writing, art, books

I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, but have traveled and lived all across the country. I am currently pursuing a degree in molecular biology and biochemistry and am currently an intern with NASA! I am a passionate tutor with a love for teaching and experience in a wide variety of subjects, K-12, collegiate, and at the standard, honors, advanced, and AP levels. I am particularly excited to help out in SAT/ACT standardized testing and college admissions help, which I have some specialized experience with. I have worked as a tutor with contracted companies and freelance for many years, and have loved the experience I've been lucky to share with students and their families.
