I have a passion for empowering others become the best they can be. Tutoring has been a part of my life for almost 30 years. I started helping out my neighbors with their English language learning in my native Argentina. Once in college, I would "trade" tutoring sessions with my peers: they would tutor me in math and accounting, and I would tutor them in microeconomics and business studies. What made that fun and empowering, was that, together, we were able to tackle any academic challenge that came our way. We were a team and it made us all better students.After moving to the USA in 1999, I was asked if I would tutor Spanish and I jumped right into it. I have since been tutoring all levels and ages of Spanish, ESL/ELL, Microeconomics, Business Studies and Public Speaking as well as Psychology - I am getting ready to start my Masters in Psychological Studies and have been a psychology buff for more than 2 decades. Writing is another subject that I tutor, specializing in essay writing and creative writing. Assisting students in getting their ideas across while following specific instructions - or just no instructions at all except for 'write something'! - is also one of my strengths.Additionally, I am a strong believer that if you master your study and organizational skills, you can achieve anything!Let me empower you to be the best you can be in your academic assignments and activities. Computer Science and Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies Student at Tufts University

I am graduate of Cornell University with a B.S. in Hotel Administration. Currently, I am a Masters student at the University of Southern California at the Rossier School of Education. Since graduating from Cornell, I have worked as a tutor and teacher's assistant with a focus in English, Spanish, French, and Algebra 1. I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds from elementary education to adults improving business writing or learning Spanish from scratch. I have a passion for language and enjoy sharing that passion with others. My favorite subject to tutor is Spanish because I know that learning a new language can be daunting, and I like helping students overcome that feeling. I hold my students to high standards and ensure that I work to give them the support and guidance they need to achieve those standards. I am patient and will employ a variety of strategies to ensure my students relate to and understand the material we are working on. When I am not tutoring, I love dancing, hiking with my dog, and exercising my creativity.

I recently graduated from UCLA and I am hoping to start law school next fall. Before I lose another three years of my life to academia, I hope to spend the time I have now to help students get the grades and marks they need to reach the schools of their dreams. I've been on the "treadmill" and I know how brutal the educational arena can be. Thus, I find great satisfaction in being able to help people who were in similar situations as myself. I have extensive experience in tutoring from two previous positions in which I taught in both a classroom setting and a one-on-one setting. Regarding the subjects I have taught- I am familiar with math all the way up to Algebra 2 (including SAT Math), I have helped many students prepare for the SAT and ACT, I am very familiar with the LSAT, and I can assist students with Literature and Writing as well. In my experience with tutoring, I have found that students can often learn best when the instruction is tailored to their needs. Each student has unique strengths and weaknesses, and I enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to play on those strengths and weaknesses in order to bring out the best performance from the student. Although law is still my passion, I've found that I truly enjoy teaching; the friendships I've developed and the lessons I've learned are invaluable, and within this next year, I hope to help as many students as possible. Outside of teaching, I like watching a good UFC fight now and then, and I am shamelessly addicted to the NBA and all its glory. I have an insatiable appetite for good music, films, art, and of course, food, and I love experiencing and learning about different cultures, religions, and views. Lastly, I think the cheeseburger is the greatest invention man has ever made, and I am forever in pursuit of the best burger in L.A.

Despite graduating magna cum laude from a mechanical engineering program on a full scholarship, I didn't always like math and science. It can take a lot of effort to "click" with these kinds of subjects, but once you do, it's a surprisingly rewarding experience. (Yes, I am a huge nerd now. See photo.) You just need to break down the problems, recognize patterns, and apply the concepts. So if you're just required to take a math course and you're sick of having a panic attack every time you look at a problem, or if you're in a STEM program and you are constantly worried that you don't belong there, I can help. I completed a dual-degree program at the University of Florida in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation as well as Zoology, with a minor in Chemistry. In college, I worked for a radioactive chemistry lab, working with isotopes in analyzing chemical levels in crop plants as well as research in fire ecology and native bird survivability. Briefly after college I worked for a state crime lab analyzing samples from performance animals, looking for illicit drugs using thin-layer chromatography. I left Florida to start a Masters Degree program at the University of Georgia, working with molecular biology techniques to attempt to identify the gene of interest in a cerebellar abiotrophy in pure-bred dogs. While I did that, I completed training as an Emergency Medical Technician and took coursework in Wilderness Search and Rescue at the University of West Georgia. I started a dual degree in veterinary medicine and graduate school, earning a DVM/PhD. My doctoral work was with viral diseases in white-tailed deer. I have spent the last two years in a residency program with the veterinary medical teaching hospital at UC-Davis, and I am now completing my final year of training here in San Diego studying conservation medicine.I have tutored students at all levels, from middle school to graduate school, and I have formally lectured undergraduates, graduate students, veterinary students, and technical college students. I love learning and am an enthusiastic teacher. My teaching philosophy, in a nutshell, centers on involving the student learner. How do they think? What interests them? Engaging students and working to avoid frustrating them is vital to effective teaching. It can be very challenging in a classroom setting, but in tutoring, it is usually a thoroughly adaptable method and enjoyable all around!

Education has allowed me to live and travel all over the country and world. I attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia where I double majored in Economics and Political Science to earn my BA. Upon graduation from college, I joined Teach for America in New York City. I taught middle school math for 5 years - 3 years in the South Bronx and 2 years in East Harlem. In my first two years of teaching I earned a Masters of science in Teaching from Pace University. While teaching, I integrated music, technology, and cooking into the classroom to motivate and inspire my students to develop an understanding of, and passion for mathematics. While teaching, I also began a school store in both of my schools where I used the profits to help fund much needed resources for the schools. My philosophy for working with students is to make their experience, fun, engaging, and meaningful so that they may understand the importance of the concepts that they are learning.After teaching for 5 years I decided I wanted to make more of an impact within communities similar to the ones I worked with. Thus two years ago I returned home to Los Angeles to attend USC's Marshall school of Business. This past summer I graduated from USC with my Master of Business Administration.My favorite subject to tutor is math. Any kind of Math including elementary math, middle school math, and pre algebra.In addition, to loving mathematics, I love music and listen to all types of music. I find it super fun to develop songs around mathematical concepts. I like to work with music from a variety of artist including but not limited to Miley Cyrus, Adele, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, and Nina Simone.
