I am currently a senior pre-medical student at Florida State University pursuing a bachelors degree in exercise physiology. I have organized and led many study groups for various subjects. Through these study groups I helped many of my classmates receive an A in rigorous subjects like organic chemistry and biology. I have a passion for learning and helping others. I strive to create a tutoring environment that is fun, engaging, and judgement-free. I also like to create personalized approaches to teaching using different strategies because I know that everyone learns in their own way. My favorite subjects are math, science, and english. In my free time, I enjoy baking, reading, surfing, yoga, and spending time with my adorable dog and cat.

The five years I have spent as an instructor of Spanish and Literature at the University of Miami has provided me with the great opportunity of testing out different teaching strategies and become a very effective instructor. My experience thus far has taught me that teaching is also defined by learning. Every time I step into a class, I am continuously gaging what is working and what is not working in the classroom. I gage how students are responding to certain course materials, such as a Spanish short story, and how well they are able to make meaningful engagements with this material through the activities I have designed for the class. As such, I consider my teaching style and approach as continuously evolving, finding novel ways to more effectively facilitate students' capacity to reach the core objectives set forth by the course as well as their own personal objectives.Out of this teaching model, I have developed my current teaching philosophy, which begins with the question: What is at stake for students seeking to immerse themselves in the worlds of Spanish-speaking cultures? The answer is "a lot." I understand that propelling students' choice of learning Spanish is the desire to cross over into cultural realities different than their own, learn about these other cultures, and be able to competently communicate with the language used by these cultures. That desire to me is very inspiring. I consider my primary job as an instructor to be the sturdy bridge that helps students connect to the Spanish-speaking societies they are seeking to know, and help them get to know them intimately through works that reflect the complexity of those cultures.My pedagogic approach to teaching private individuals is the same. I gage, assess, and draw out a tailored plan that includes a certain skill-set that needs to be mastered by each individual student for his or her personal goals to be met. When it comes to teaching Spanish, my goals are to further individuals' written and verbal fluency in Spanish. When it comes to teaching literature, I focus on helping my students develop acute critical thinking through the material we cover. This form of teaching is very demanding but also very rewarding. It gives me great pleasure to know that my students recognize that this approach lends great results, and to see their enthusiasm about putting in the work to get those benefits.

I am a newcomer to Miami from New York City. I went to college at a small liberal arts school in Pennsylvania, where I studied Economics and played varsity soccer. Since college, I applied my Economics degree to the financial field, gaining a wealth of experience in Investment Banking and Trading, Leveraged Debt, and Private Equity for a prestigious Hedge Fund in NYC. I will be attending business school this fall concentrating in Entrepreneurship and have already been accepted into all 8 of the schools I have applied. I have a passion for teaching, coaching and mentoring others, and I can't wait to help each one of you reach your personal goals and realize your potential. I have an extremely high aptitude for quantitative subjects, and I am a great writer. As I have recently taken the GMAT exam and scored in the 90+ percentile across all areas, I would love to help someone who is thinking about graduate school, but I thoroughly enjoy teaching all subjects and ages.

I am a proud graduate of the University of Colorado. I funded my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with various academic scholarships. After attending undergraduate school, I explored the field of school psychology where I worked directly with students to improve study skills and support overall academic achievement. Additionally, I worked with gifted and talented students and their families. Currently, I am a professional editor, and I particularly enjoy working with students on college admissions essays, communications, and language arts. I also provide tutoring for the ACCUPLACER exam because I believe there are many different ways to succeed in higher education, and I believe all of my students have the ability to achieve their unique academic goals. In college, I was a Political Science and Economics major. My favorite Political Science class was Political Philosophy Theory, and my favorite Economics class was Labor Economics.I scored a 177 on the LSAT and a 34 on the ACT, and I'm experienced in tutoring these subjects as well.I was ranked 4th in the country in Public Forum debate, so I'm also very confident tutoring in public speaking.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Psychology from Boston College and my Master of Science in Education from University of Miami. I have been teaching in elementary schools for three years, and before that, I volunteer taught in high school for two years. I have tutored students in math and reading in grades K and 3-5, but I am also able to work with other grades. I currently teach elementary math and have done so for the past two years. My teaching experience has taught me all students can learn, and it is just necessary to find how they learn best. I was a volunteer for Laubach Literacy and I am an advocate for reading. My mentors in education are Maria Montessori, John Dewey, and Margaret Mead. I admire their innovative techniques and the changes they made to education. I like to discover a students learning style and work with them in a way that makes them most comfortable, engaged, and motivated. Outside of academia I am interested in travel, the arts, and I am a voracious reader. I have traveled extensively and enjoy working with people from other places. I have been a volunteer, primarily working with children, and been advocating for them for decades. I spent the majority of time in shelters and as a Guardian Ad Litem. I live a healthy life which includes a focus on nutrition, daily exercise, Qigong and daily meditation. These keep my life balanced while I maintain an active life.
