Hello! My name is Kaylie and I am currently a graduate student at Oregon State University pursuing my M.S. in education! I received a B.S. in Biology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and am currently obtaining my teaching credential in secondary science. I have led group study sessions at Cal Poly for both chemistry and biology college courses, was a specialized one-on-one tutor for students with various learning needs, and now have almost a year of experience student teaching in both middle and high school science classrooms! I am passionate about science, education, and working with students.

I believe in creativity and fresh perspective. In pursuit of this, I've traveled around the world, visiting places like China and New Zealand. There is so much value in a diversity of experiences through different cultures and beliefs. When I returned to the United States, I decided to earn my degree. In pursuit of communicating well with others, and coupled with a deep love of storytelling, I earned my undergraduate degree in English. I have an emphasis on understanding new ideas alongside a fresh reexamination of old ones, with the viewpoint that each person is an individual with a unique creative process.

I received my PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. My dissertation work was in optics, specifically optical imaging systems. I primarily tutor Optics, Electromagnetism, Analog Circuits, and Digital Electronics. My teaching style tends to be Socratic; I like to use guiding questions to help students grow their comprehension and problem solving skills.
