This is a full year introductory course for those with an interest in the Visual Arts. This course focuses on elements and principles of design with exploration in a variety of media and techniques with an introduction to art history. Students will evaluate and critique artwork. This course is a prerequisite for Drawing & Painting II.

During this course the art student will work on the Breadth section of their portfolio demonstrating a range of drawing experiences and accomplishments with a variety of art forms, concepts, and techniques. Self-motivation is mandatory. Fifteen quality completed works of art are required before the end of the year.

It also includes a basic introduction to Art History. Emphasis for this course shall be placed on the visual, spatial, and compositional concepts to communicate a range of ideas.

Further exploration of the media, will enable students to develop intermediate-level skills in the use of sculpture media, design, processes, techniques, art criticism and evaluation. It also will include a more in-depth approach to Art History. Emphasis for this course will be placed on the use of visual, spatial, and compositional concepts to communicate a range of ideas.

This is a full year course that will enable students to develop advanced skills in the use of sculpture media, design, processes, techniques, art criticism and evaluation. It will also include in-depth research into Art History. Emphasis for this course shall be placed on the use of visual, spatial, and compositional concepts to communicate a range of ideas.

For serious art students who need a collection of original, personal works to develop a portfolio containing an artist's statements and a diverse range of student's own works of art. This course requires independent research on topics of Art History. By the end of the year, each student should complete 6 quality art works. It is recommended that this course is taken with Sculpture III in order to build up an extensive portfolio needed for AP students.

This course is an extension of Portfolio I and is offered only to those serious art students who need a larger collection of original, personal works to enhance the quality of their portfolio containing artists' statements and a diverse range of students' own works of art. It is highly recommended that this course is taken with AP Studio Art 3-D Design. This course requires independent research on topics of Art History.

The course is intended to address a very broad interpretation of sculptural issues in three-dimensional (3-D) design. Such elements and concepts may be articulated through additive, subtractive, and/or fabrications processes. This course also requires independent research on topics of Art History. It is for the advanced art student who wishes to seek AP credit through submitting a portfolio of work for consideration by the College Board.

The purpose of this course is to build a foundation of art where students are learning basic aspects of art making, comparative study of art work and art exhibition to prepare for future courses of IB Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL) art.
