How can Math tutoring help you succeed?

Math is a subject that seems to either attract students or not interest them at all. It is a topic that your child may begin to encounter as early as kindergarten and may work with up until graduation. Math may be used throughout the rest of their lives. From balancing their bank account to planning a budget, math is everywhere. While this subject is very useful, it may also be very frustrating. If your child is struggling with tough math concepts, you are in the right place. Connecting with a private math tutor in Jacksonville may benefit them greatly. A personal math tutor may try to help your student improve their grades in math.

Your child may be struggling with traditional topics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Perhaps they are struggling with problem-solving, fractions, or rounding. It may be that they are just looking for extra help preparing for the math portion of the Florida Standards Assessments or FSA. No matter what has them stumped, a tutor is waiting to help! Help your child excel in their course with the aid of a professional math tutor in Jacksonville today.

The student has an exam on Thursday and Friday of this week. We worked through problems in her review packet to prepare. The exam covers the entire chapter (about a month's worth of class), so there was a lot of material to be covered. Although we were not able to get through all of the problems, we did cover every topic.

The student needed some clarification on elements of a parabola (axis of symmetry, directrix, etc.). I explained the two different forms of a quadratic function and we found the vertex, axis of symmetry and x-intercepts of an example. I left her with a few equations to graph and identify the elements of the parabola (though not including focus and directrix).

The student and I went over her last quiz. We also reviewed her last project. We discussed new concepts she is learning in class and practiced the distributive property and combining like terms. The student has a good grasp on these concepts. We also practiced translating word problems into equations and solving them.

The student and I covered material for her upcoming exam. She is really understanding how to graph lines and has showed great improvement on adjusting equations into slope-intercept form. We did some extra practice problems on the areas where she has needed help with, namely subtracting negative numbers from negative numbers. Overall, she is prepared for her exam and I expect good results.

During our session we continued to work on graphing and solving inequalities for an upcoming test. The student completed the practice problems I had assigned him and as a result seemed much more confident with the word problems. We also covered inequalities that contained absolute value signs. The best part of this was him showing a little excitement towards math. When we meet again on Saturday I plan to look over the test with him, go over any questions, and start covering new material that the teacher assigns after the test.
