I am a graduate of Northeastern State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Throughout college, I worked at a childcare learning center with all ages ranging from infant to school age (11 years old). Upon graduating college, I took on a 3rd grade teaching position at a high poverty, low income public school. Currently, I teach 1st and 2nd grade at a private school. I am finishing up 4 years of teaching and look forward to many more years. I have a strong passion to see children succeed, even when the odds may be against them. Academically, my passion is to teach children the joy of reading, and help them understand how far it will take them in life. I desire to see children not only succeed, but thrive. By advancing a child's education, children feel better about themselves and it brings me joy and fulfillment to be a part of that. It is of a great importance to me that children are taught to be well-rounded individuals - and their education is only the beginning! While I do love teaching reading, phonics and writing to students, I also love the world of math. Altogether, I feel it is important to foster a problem solving approach in the thinking of children.

I am currently on my last semester of studying for a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry. After I graduate in May, I will be attending medical school. I have worked as a tutor for a college-level General Chemistry class at a past professor's request. I have also worked with children for a few years, consistently as a volunteer with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and the Girl Scouts of the USA.I am excited for the opportunity to work as a tutor and help others learn about Chemistry, Biology, and Psychology. Those are the main foci of my degree, but I also feel confident in my ability to help with ACT standardized testing.

I have been teaching Chemistry for several years and love teaching it because every day I learn new things. I love teaching. Besides teaching Chemistry I also like to work with Computers and teaching Algebra and Spanish Language.

I am very interested in all areas of language study, be it my native tongue of English or foreign languages. I am fluent in German, and have some familiarity with Spanish, French, Latin, Anglo-Saxon, and Koine Greek.Language study lies at the center of my intellectual life because it incorporates many different areas of learning in the humanities - literature, linguistics, philosophy, history, cultural studies, the arts, entertainment, and so on.I believe that a rigorous education in the humanities is an oft-overlooked but essential component to one's life-long education as a human being. Language study facilitates the acquisition of the humanities in an especially holistic, stimulating, and flexible intellectual environment.Furthermore, it's incredibly fun and enriching stuff! And if the fun in it can't be seen, my job and my longing is to help students see that all learning is an utter joy!I feel drawn to teach so that I can help others begin to think about the world in a more informed manner, and especially so that I can help stoke the fire of curiosity in students and help them (especially struggling students who may be frustrated with a topic) learn to delight in learning.My musical education consists of 13 years of choral singing, 12 years of electric guitar, 5 years of piano, and 3 years of singing classical art songs and opera. I have performed in principal roles in the University of Tulsa's Opera Theater and am currently singing in the Tulsa Opera Chorus for the 2016-2017 season.I studied 3 semesters' worth of music theory and 3 semesters of ear training while at the University of Tulsa and I strongly believe that enhancing both one's aural skills and one's knowledge of theory brings a great deal of pleasure and novelty to the experience of all music, be it classical, pop, jazz, or death metal!

A recent law school grad, I am passionate about helping students achieve their goals in the face of challenges. Before law school, I earned my Bachelor's degree in French from the University of Oklahoma and then spent three years in France teaching and tutoring students in English as a foreign language. During law school, I continued my passion for helping students succeed by working as a teaching assistant to a Legal Research and Writing professor. My favorite thing about teaching and tutoring is watching students feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with perseverance.

As a graduate of the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business, I am passionate about ensuring a student-first mindset when building curriculum and preparing for sessions. I have taught students from pre-k through grade 12 English, writing, organization skills, and introductory technology courses. I taught study skills, Microsoft Suite, English, business topics, and analytics at university. Currently, I am working towards my Master of Business of Administration with a certification in Marketing Analytics. While I am not in school myself or tutoring, you can find me at a dance studio or outside hammocking and hiking. As a student myself, I know the importance of knowing that there are things outside of course work or that the material is not always understandable so making a real-world connection is important.

I love solving puzzles and meeting challenges. There is no time better than the present to master a subject and gain a new skill. I am excited about helping students succeed!My favorite subjects to tutor include English, accounting, and Spanish. I tutor math up to Algebra 1, ACT and SAT test prep, and business classes such as economics. My teaching philosophy is that any concept can be conquered and fully understood; all you have to do is relate the new idea to something you already understand. With practice, you will find yourself not only comfortable with a subject but enjoying it as well!I received my bachelor's in accounting with a Spanish minor at Oral Roberts University. I am currently still attending ORU to obtain additional education in order to become a CPA. I have tutored Spanish at ORU and I currently tutor three students aged 10, 13, and 15 four days a week.Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, playing volleyball, mountain biking, and snowboarding. I love to be active and healthy, and I am always up to travel whenever I get the chance.

I graduated from Drury University in May 2017 with a B.A. in Art History.Formally, I have worked in multiple capacities with young students with disabilities, as well as mentoring my peers in high school and college. Informally, I have tutored younger friends and the children of family friends since I was in middle school, and love working one-on-one with students. This fall I have a work placement in a DC area high school and will be developing a museum field trip for my students.I strongly believe in the power of informal learning environments like museums, libraries, and camps, and I work my passion for art and creativity into everything I do.I believe every student has potential, and that it's just about giving the student the tools they need to unlock that potential in order to foster a lifetime love of learning.I look forward to working with your students :)
