About Me

Assisting both children and adults to grow in confidence and succeed academically brings me great joy. As a life-long learner, I continued my education earning a Bachelor's in English at Marquette University, a Master's in Special Education from National Louis University, and a Ph.D. In Educational Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. For over twenty years, I have taught students at all levels of our educational system. My expertise is helping students in grades K-3, students with special needs, and medical students. My favorite subjects to tutor are reading, written expression, organization skills, executive functioning, and Study skills. I take a very individualized approach in my teaching. I evaluate each learner and determine where the difficulty lies. I am soft spoken and take the learner one successful step at a time often using more low tech approaches that totally immerse the student in learning. interactively. I have been told by my students that I am kind, patient, fun, and able to give them confidence. My students, their parents and I work together as a team to meet their learning goals. I am proud of having helped so many students during my career. I specialize in teaching phonics elementary school reading, writing, ad study/organizational skills. I have extensive experience assisting students with I.E.P s and special learning needs Outside of tutoring/teaching, I am an amateur photographer. I also spend time with my family and friends.
