I graduated from Mount St. Joseph University with a Master's in Teaching. Before that, I also graduated from The University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor's in English. After completing the collegiate work, my goal was to continue tutoring students who face academic struggles. I successfully tutored students from kindergarten through twelfth grade during my collegiate coursework. Based upon my extensive experience, I found out that tutoring is something that I thoroughly enjoy. The confidence that a student has after my successful tutoring--there is nothing in this world I love seeing more! My philosophy in teaching is a very simple four-step process: 1) See where the student is struggling; 2) Discuss with the student what went wrong; 3) Provide the content the student needs to take the next step; and finally, 4) Stay with the student until he or she can master the concept that was once a stumbling block to them. Therefore, I use a direct one-on-one approach with the student that emphasizes modeling as a foundation. I am passionate about helping students because I have seen that at work in my own life. If I was not able to receive the tutoring that I had while I was in school, then I would not be where I am today. Thus, I feel the need to give out my academic assistance to other students just like it was given out to me beforehand. Finally, in my spare time, I enjoy playing and watching football and basketball; board, card, and video games; and spending time with my family.
