I began teaching in 2011, giving one on one English as a second language lessons to adults and kids in Paris while I was studying abroad with San Francisco State University. After obtaining my Bachelor of Arts in 2013, I remained in Paris and worked as a private teacher and also as a Business English language teacher for several language schools in town.When I moved back to Los Angeles in 2015 to attend a teaching pedagogy program at Cal State University, Long Beach, I began tutoring French with Varsity Tutors, and I've loved it ever since!In 2018, I moved back to Paris to obtain a Master Degree in Applied French Language at The Sorbonne University. The following year I relocated to the New York City area, where I continue to teach French and English with Varsity Tutors and other platforms.I love the fun and flexible job of a language tutor. It is my passion to help students reach their language goals and learn the ins and outs of the French language, while becoming part of the eclectic and very rich French culture!

Teaching others is one of my greatest passions. I find that sharing knowledge with others and helping them to become passionate about learning is one of the most rewarding activities I can engage in. I believe knowledge is among the highest virtues of mankind, and even higher is our ability to assist one another in such endeavors.

After completing my MCAT I decided that I wanted to take off a couple of years to gain non-academic experience and make sure that medical school is what I want. When I am not tutoring students I participate in a couple of non-profit programs where I tutor homeless kids and under-served families for free. In addition I also work as a research associate in cancer immunology at City of Hope Medical Center. When I am not working I enjoy listening to music, playing musical instruments (I play several), and reading. After graduating, I applied to and was accepted into the New York City Teaching Fellows. As part of that program, I earned a Masters in Education, focusing on adolescent mathematics education and students with disabilities.Most of my experience tutoring comes as a Math and Special Education teacher. I regularly work with students after school on Math homework, ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus. I enjoy tutoring because it is much easier to get to know a student, and for a student to get to know me, one-one-one as opposed to in a large class. As a tutor, I always try to find a student's strengths and use that as a starting point to build on. I know many students dislike or are even fearful of Math, but it has always been my favorite subject as a student and as a teacher. I want to make Math as exciting and relevant to every student as it has always been for me.In my free time, I like to read, cook, and kayak. I grew up near the water in Maryland, so kayaking was easy to do. I do not get the chance as frequently in NYC, but I have been out on both rivers!

I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Seattle Pacific University, and I love to help others grasp challenging concepts. I enjoy filling in gaps in students' understanding as well as working with students who are new to a subject. In the past, I have worked with students on a variety of mathematics subjects such as: algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. I am confident I can help students grasp just about any math concept. I have always had a drive to understand things completely and this has has helped me develop a comprehensive understanding of high school and early college mathematics and physics. Mathematics and physics are my favorite subjects to tutor because I appreciate the consistent logic that is fundamental to these to these topics. I am confident I can help any student grasp difficult math concepts.I take a systematic, analytical approach to most effectively and efficiently improve the mathematic and/or scientific ability of my clients. In doing this, I follow a four-step process:1) identify the specific, problematic concepts2) develop teaching strategies tailored to the student's age level and personality3) work through the concepts with the student4) use continuous check-ins to make sure the student is truly learning the material, making appropriate changes to my teaching style when necessary.Outside of academics, I love to be creative and to exercise outdoors. Lastly, I love to bike and swim. Whether it is a short ride to the river or a 300-mile ride to the Oregon coast, biking satisfies my inner desire for freedom, and the destination often involves a cool place to dive in.

Currently, I work as a Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) teacher. In this position, I collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to promote student development. My duties include providing progress reports and small group instruction for my students on a daily basis. I also set up motivational programs for my students to be carried out during our sessions and in their general education classrooms. By teaming up with parents and teachers, I help each one of my students stay organized and motivated to do well in school.During my small group instruction sessions, I help my students by using games and songs to study pertinent information. I am patient, organized, and have a great amount of experience working with children. I also incorporate Gardners Multiple Intelligences into my sessions to cater to the learning styles of each of my students. I believe that every student can succeed when they are provided with the right tools by a knowledgeable motivator.

My job as an educator started well before I even left for college. I have worked in many aspects of education including outdoor education, nannying, the classroom, and as a museum educator. Having worked in a variety of places, I am able to help students with their studies using creative and fun methods. I love History and Literature, and I enjoy being able to help students learn the joy of reading. My favorite subject in elementary school was Math and I enjoy talking about fractions, the metric system, and the importance of knowing multiplication tables!I am a life long learner and love to spend time in museums, libraries, and traveling. I am a rising junior in Cornell University in the College of Engineering. Currently, I am studying Computer Science and Education with the goal of becoming a high school teacher for Mathematics and Computer Science. I have educated others in a wide variety of age groups and settings from public schools to private tutoring to summer camps. With the rise of computer science and programming I have firsthand experience on what the future of someone pursuing that field is like and how to prepare and stay motivated in that field. In my time aiding students I saw that motivation and having a goal is the most important part of learning the subject and becoming a better student to help accomplish the set goal.

I'm an observer and listener. Many times I have discovered new insights and explanations to nature phenomena by watching and listening. My personal mantra is not who or what you are today, but the journey taken to get to where you are today.
