I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Arabic and Middle Eastern cultures in May of 2017. Afterward, I completed a dual Masters of Arts in Arabic linguistics and criminal justice studies (criminology emphasis) with the goal to work as a language analyst for the United States government; however, since my graduation, I have been teaching Arabic at the college level, and I am loving it!I very much enjoy studying how and why people's minds may work in regards to social deviance, which is why I chose to study criminal justice, emphasizing on criminology. My studies concentrated on advanced criminological theories, geographical crime profiling, and behaviors of violent crimes. If you are a fan of shows such as CSI and/or Criminal Minds then you know exactly why I find this field so fascinating!I am here to help learners who are interested in the Arabic language and cultures as well as those who study or want to better understand the criminal justice systems. I have two masters degrees, one in Music from Houghton College and the other in Library Science from the University of Missouri - Columbia. The English language, both in reading and writing have been a main interest in my life. Throughout the time I was studying Music and Library Science, I tutored both peers and high school students in English reading, writing, diction, and test preparation. I tutored my peers in test preparation and writing skills from 2004 to 2010. From 2010 to the present, I taught diction, writing, and reading to both international students and native speakers. My favorite subject to teach is writing because it is a skill that incorporates all other English skills. I believe that everyone is capable of learning, and will gain confidence as they accomplish small learning goals. If the goals are too broad, the learning experience will be too overwhelming and the student may lose confidence in his or her abilities. I enjoy research, learning new things, and helping others reach their learning goals. Outside of academics, I enjoy gardening, music, and the company of my four dogs. I also enjoy needlework and cosplay. I consider tutoring a privilege and look forward to helping anyone I am able.

As a student, I am highly interested in the sciences which has led me to be in this position as a pharmacy student. I love to learn about biochemical processes of our body and how medications can alter that. Once that knowledge has been obtained, it is amazing to learn about how it can be applied therapeutically. My background consists of a public health degree while which helps me understand the broad perspective of health and then learning about pharmacy helps me zoom in and be able to clinically help patients. Professionally, I aspire to be in a workplace where I could continue being innovative and where I can utilize my compassion for individuals. I want a degree of freedom along with my job where I could learn new things and at the same time follow protocol.

I first started tutoring when I was an undergraduate student in college. I tutored both General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. I finished my Undergraduate degree in Psychology with a Minor in Biology. I started teaching Chemistry while I was working on my first Master's Degree; I taught General Chemistry Labs. I enjoyed teaching so much that after I finished my degree I started teaching Honors Chemistry at the High School level.As a teacher, I love to use hands-on methods to teach concepts to my students. I am a graduate of the University of Iowa (BA Secondary English Education; Minors Human Relations, Psychology, Reading, and Athletic Coaching) and Drake University (M.S.E Culturally Responsive Leadership and Instruction with an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education). Being able to read critically and articulate ideas meaningful are skills that empower young people to thrive as 21st-century learners. In May of 2015, I graduated from the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There, I earned my degree in Biochemistry while working as a coffee shop barista, environmental chemistry laboratory assistant, and emergency department medical scribe. Further, as an undergraduate, I developed a love for teaching as I worked as a Teacher's Assistant in various biology and chemistry laboratory courses and later had the opportunity to serve as a private tutor in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with students in the subject areas I love.With academic understanding comes excitement, further curiosity, and a sense of achievement. Leading my students toward this understanding is my goal, and something I take great pride in. In August of 2015, I began my medical school education at Creighton University. I am excited to continue working as a tutor while earning a degree that will allow me to be a life-long teacher.
