Accounting Tutor • +8 Subjects

I graduated this past May from the University of Minnesota's Master of Accountancy program. Prior to attending graduate school here in the Twin Cities, I completed my bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Denver with a minor in international studies. As someone with extensive experience taking various standardized tests (GMAT, ACT, SAT, AP Exams, etc.), and is currently in the process of completing the CPA exams, I feel that I am a great resource for students preparing for similar tests. Having taken numerous standardized exams so recently, I am very familiar with the subject matters tested, as well as with strong study habits, time management, and test taking strategies.I have a passion for coaching and teaching young people, and have always enjoyed helping friends and classmates that are struggling in academic areas in which I feel I can assist. For almost a decade now, I have coached ice hockey on and off. Throughout my undergrad years I worked at the local ice rink as a goaltending coach for goalies 10-17 years old. I also taught learn-to-skate classes for students four years old and up. My experience as a coach and youth counselor has taught me a lot about communicating with students of all ages and has equipped me with the confidence and expertise necessary to provide fun and effective tutoring sessions. When I am not studying for my next CPA exam or working with students I enjoy reading about current events, wake surfing, golfing, seeing live music, and playing with my puppy.

Hello! I am a very experienced educator who works with native, ESL and Special Needs speakers. I am very flexible with the needs of my students and aim to educate rather than just lecture. My approach is interactive to thoroughly test whether the information is being processed or not. I have over 17 years of teaching experience of both group and one-on-one settings. As a doctoral candidate and published author, I am very interested in finding solutions to how people learn, motivation and outcomes. My approaches aim to create and encourage the thinker not the memorizer, the leader not the follower, and the perpetual learner not the short-sighted learner. I love helping people move forward, gain focus and aim higher. Let's tread confidently forward together!

I am a graduate of UW-Eau Claire with a BS in communication sciences and disorders and an MS in speech-language pathology. While in school, I was a TA and completed a masters thesis. I have been an SLP for 6 years and that continues to be my "day job." I wanted to get into tutoring because I wanted something flexible while still teaching- it truly is a passion of mine! I've learned a lot being in public education, including working with students who have a wide variety of needs. I meet students where they are at with their skills and use their interests and strengths to continue progressing their goals. I am a great listener and place a lot of value on forming strong relationships with my students.

I attended Denison University in Ohio where I earned a B.A. in psychology, summa cum laude, with a minor in music performance (trumpet). I was a department fellow and tutor, primarily working with psychology and writing students, and also worked as a stage manager in the music department. After college, I headed to The Ohio State University where I earned a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology with a specialization in college teaching. While I was a graduate student, I taught general psychology and ACT prep courses and scored ACT and SAT writing exams. Thanks to my education, I am an expert in psychology, reading, writing, and general scientific literacy. As a teacher and a tutor, I have worked with students ranging from children to doctoral degree candidates. I like tutoring students individually because it allows me to tailor my approach to each student in a way that I could never do in a classroom. Outside of my work, I enjoy listening to music, bicycling, cooking, and occasionally playing my trumpet.

I am a graduate of University of Northwestern-St. Paul where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English (with a concentration in writing) and Spanish. Since graduation, I have been an editorial assistant at a publishing company. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English and Spanish. In my experience, helping struggling students better understand the grammar and structure of language is the key to helping them succeed in all areas of life. I am a firm believer that every student has the ability to improve with patience, clear direction, and willingness. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, and going on walks with friends.

I am a honors student at the University of Minnesota, studying aerospace engineering and computer science. As such I have a strong background in STEM, and I hope I can bring this expertise to you. As an honors student, I have taken challenging courses that go above and beyond what is required in physics, calculus, and programming. I have experience tutoring my peers at the university, and I am on track to get CRLA tutoring certified. I find that the best way to get students to learn is to connect with them at a personal level and to do example problems to get practice at applying the concepts learned from class.

I am a graduate of Stanford University, where I majored in Psychology and was editor-in-chief of the campus humor magazine. After graduation in 2011, I worked as a neuroscience researcher and, later, as a technologist and data scientist for Goldman Sachs and World Wrestling Entertainment. I am currently pursuing a creative writing career in addition to tutoring students. My tutoring specialties are the SAT and ACT Reading and Writing sections, in addition to the ACT Science section and general essay writing. My philosophy on college entrance exams is that practice tests are most valuable when combined with training in the general principles of English language, vocabulary and reading comprehension for which the ACT and SAT test. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy watching movies, going to concerts, and playing board games.
