I am a graduate from Arizona State University, The Honors College, with a degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Global Health. I was awarded the Moeur award as I was able to complete university with a 4.0 GPA.Since AP Chemistry and AP Biology in high school, I have developed a passion for these subjects. Moreover, in college, my desire to share my knowledge and help others in these tough subjects greatly strengthened. Therefore, I chose to tutor middle-school and high-school students in a variety of subjects. Out of all the subjects that I offer, I love to teach biology, chemistry, and algebra because of my expertise and excellent ability to accurately convey the concepts. I also offer tutoring for SAT Math sections since this closely corresponds to my interests.Currently, I am an online peer mentor for first-year chemistry/biochemistry-degree students at ASU. This class has taught me many of the technical aspects of learning. From previous experiences, I learned that every student has their own learning style that they flourish in. While one might learn effectively with pictures, another student might grasp the concept with hands-on experience. My approach to tutoring is quite simple; after analyzing the student's strengths and weaknesses to create a mental record, I adapt my teaching style accordingly.In my free time, I love to work out at the gym, volunteer at Hospice, and watch movies. These are the activities that continue to motivate and push me.Lastly, I know that some students will either prefer a teacher-student interaction and some a student-student interaction. Many of my students enter the local IB program, and it is my responsibility to ensure they are prepared. My past students have attained many scholarships and are across the country in a variety of challenging academic programs.

While in school, I worked part-time as an Accounts Payable Assistant for the library business services and I volunteered a lot of my time providing assistance to hospitalized geriatric populations at UCLA medical center. I was also part of a free clinic community where I provided preventive medicine advice and performed glucose and blood pressure exams on the medically underserved communities in South Los Angeles. In addition, as part of a Peer Mentorship Program, I guided incoming freshmen in getting adjusted to the college environment and provided resources for academic services available on campus. Since graduation, I have worked as an Accounts Receivable Specialist, tutored students on Upchieve and Junior Achievement online platforms, and improved my learning and organizational skills using skillshare. While I am interested in tutoring a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about teaching Science, Math, and English. I am a strong advocate for education and I truly believe in the power of collaborative learning and helping students achieve their academic goals. I would spend my nights and weekends reading encyclopedias and watching the History Channel - I know, I really was that kid.But, by the time I had graduated from Sandra Day O'Connor High School, I was disappointed in the effort that I put into my school work. I never reached out for tutoring help, so I struggled to motivate myself in subjects like Algebra. I was headed to Arizona State University to study Linguistics when I decided that school was important to me.At this point, I am studying History and Jewish Studies at ASU. I have learned the value of a good relationship with a course instructor, and having conversations with classmates about course material outside the classroom. In subjects like Hebrew, I have greatly benefited from tutors, who have helped dismantle the fear of learning another language.In turn, I love to talk about history, religion, language, and writing with my friends and my students! I love helping people unlock the value of understanding history, or appreciating someone else's religion, or just writing an efficient paper.When I'm not in school, I am probably playing the guitar at my church, drinking specialty coffee, or walking my dog with my wife.Truthfully, I believe each student has the potential to become a scholar, and I will do anything to empower students in their studies.
