About Me
I graduated with a degree in Psychology from the Universidad Autnoma de Santo Domingo in 1991. That same year, I started working as an assistant teacher at the Montessori Elementary School in Santo Domingo. It was there that I became acquainted with the Montessori philosophy and method, and I have been a proponent of it ever since, especially its philosophy. My therapeutic work with children with special educational needs is grounded in this methodological approach. In 2002, I studied Montessori education for children aged 6 to 12 at the Universidad Tecnolgica de Santo Domingo, and in 2009, I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Montessori Early Childhood Education for children aged 3 to 6 from the Centro Montessori de Santo Domingo, accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS). In addition to various specialization courses, certificates, and diplomas in education and psychology, I earned a Master's degree in Family Therapy from the Universidad Autnoma de Santo Domingo in 2005. In my role as a teacher-therapist, I integrate all my knowledge acquired through my studies and especially from my experience as a Montessori guide and learning therapist for special needs children, focusing on their strengths and potential. While most of my teaching and tutoring has been in person, during the pandemic I had the opportunity to work with preschool children via Zoom. It was a very satisfying experience, despite my initial reluctance to use technology for teaching. Another area I greatly enjoy is homeschooling, which I advocate for. I love advising parents in this process and/or serving as the teacher-tutor.
