About Me

Hello! My name is Tonya. I graduated from American Military University with a degree in Human Development and Family studies. I continued my education at the University at West Florida to obtain my teaching certificate through their Teacher Ready Program. I specialize in English, ESL, reading comprehension, phonics, and essay writing. I am well-versed in tutoring elementary and middle school students particularly in English and math following common core standards. I have worked as a teacher, summer school teacher, and as a substitute teacher in public and private schools including those that were Title 1 and with special need students. In addition, I have worked as a reading resource teacher. My experience includes working with students who have IEPs, learning disabilities, and special needs. Lastly, I have tutored in an outreach program with low-income, immigrant, and refugee families for several years and as a personal tutor for over 3 years.
