About Me

I am a specialized reading instructor with over 30 years of experience as a homeschool director, professional instructor, and curriculum designer. My formal training is in education, special education, art education, and early childhood education, and I have completed specialized Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy training to work with students who have dyslexia and other reading difficulties. Acadm For the past decade, my focus has been on teaching reading, reading comprehension, ACT, SAT English, Orton-Gillingham-reading intervention in one-to-one and in small groups. At Varsity Tutors, I serve as an Academic Specialist in reading and Orton-Gillingham, and I teach all levels of structured literacy classes with students including those with dyslexia and neurodivergent kids to adult. My background also includes TESOL/TEFL certification and extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language to Chinese and other Asian students, as well as in Ecuador, Italy & France.
