I am also a magna cum laude 2000 graduate of Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA, with a MA in English, where I was also a graduate assistant. I have been a professional adjunct lecturer and tutor at the college level for thirty years. I now teach solely at Alvernia University. I teach primarily in the Communication Department but have also taught Literature courses, Health Care Science writing courses, and I am now a Search Instructor (first year experience) and first-year advisor. I have professional credits at the bachelor's level in philosophy, theology, education, and addictions and mental health, holding a Behavioral Health certificate. I have master's level reading specialist professional credits and doctoral level professional credits in leadership. I also hold a teaching certificate for Pennsylvania Private Academic Schools, English, Secondary Education. I am the Faculty Advisor the Lamba Sigma Honors Society chapter at Alvernia University. I believe that students should be taught how to think, not what to think. I am one of the most popular lecturers on campus as I am known for my kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. My education has given me the skills I need to be a tutor and teacher, but it is being a mother, daughter and friend first that is the foundation of my teaching philosophy. Teaching physics presents unique challenges. I think that one important element in teaching any class is a positive attitude with energy and creativity to engage students in the effort of creative a pleasant environment. I have always tried to present real-world and hands-on practice to solidify the fact that what is being learned is essential in the intellectual maturity. I like to engage groups discussion to allow students to share their experience and teamwork is always important in a society where we always trying to help someone. I show and encourage my students to write concise and accurate description of their work. This part of the course training is to prepare my students for graduate schools and for their future careers goals achievements. I like to walk in the class especially when I give assignments to my students to see how much they understand of the instructions given. Of further great importance are homework problems, quizzes and exams, which allow me to gauge both how well a student can individually explore problems and how effective my lessons are at teaching the necessary methods and techniques. These formal assessments allow me to improve as a teacher from year to year.The most gratifying part of teaching is perceiving that I am contributing to generate a more scientifically literate society, where my students have the abilities required to make educated decisions, assess opinions and proposals based on facts and logic, measure the importance and significance of statistics presented in popular science articles and the press, and approach their lives with an inquisitive nature.

With the appropriate use of technology we can both, the teacher and student get a lot out of a multi-cultural environment. I believe that the secret to learning History is to make it come alive. If you know the story you will also learn the names and dates required for testing. My job is to make those stories interesting. I draw the student in by using multiple modalities customized to their learning style and the nature of the curriculum we are studying.I have an MA in History from Marquette and 13 years of secondary and post-secondary experience in the classroom, both online and face-to-face.

I am a former public school teacher, having spent 7 years teaching theatre, public speaking, and creative writing to middle and high school students in Columbia, South Carolina. I've also worked with students pursuing their GEDs, and taught Public Communications for several years at the University of South Carolina.My favorite thing about teaching is helping students gain confidence, whether in their writing, test-taking, speaking, or performance. When students are assured they are capable, when their confidence is nurtured, there is growth by leaps and bounds.I currently volunteer at my son's preschool, helping children learn to read, and broadening their appreciation of children's literature. I'm a blogger for Huffington Post Parents, and enjoy proofreading and editing my writer-husband's latest work. In my free time, I enjoy going to the theatre, building towers of blocks with my son, and trying to sneak vegetables into his lunches.

I lecture Anatomy and Physiology at a college in Boston and I truly enjoy teaching. I hope to earn my PhD within the next couple of years so that I can teach full time at the university level, and open my own line of research.Most of my teaching and tutoring experience was gained during graduate school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I tutored student-athletes in a variety of subjects including Anatomy, Physiology, Exercise Physiology and Statistics. Personally, I found the tutoring experience to be very revealing. Students would come in night after night, in separate sessions, and ask me the same questions. I quickly learned that the professors were simply reading off slides; taking little time to explain difficult mechanisms and concepts. As such, few students were learning the material, and almost all of them needed a tutor to re-explain the material. As a result, I developed the ability to tutor at a pace that matches the students' needs. I truly mean it when I say I take my tutoring seriously, and I do everything I can to help students understand the material!In my free time you can catch me at a Red Sox game, working out (I love to run), hiking in the mountains or cooking a big meal in the kitchen. Since before I graduated I have been travelling around to different countries in South America and living abroad in pursuit of my passion in volunteer teaching.
