This course explores the many careers in the field of aviation and aeronautics and prepares students for upper level coursework in this pathway. Instruction includes a study of the development of aircraft and the aviation/aeronautical industries. Through a project-based learning approach, students will learn about the scientific and mathematical principles of flight and aerodynamics. Students will learn the requirements and opportunities for careers and post-secondary education in aviation and aeronautics. They will develop a personal career/life plan while also practicing valuable foundation skills in technical reading and writing, public speaking and technology.

Students will learn fundamental accounting skills and build an appreciation for the role of accounting in managing a profitable business. Generally the next step after Business MGMT and Entr. Students will learn to formulate an actual business plan and learn how to create and deliver a professional presentation that will help get their plan funded. Using chemistry skills and concepts learned in the course, students solve environmental engineering problems related to water and its interactions with the environment. The class is taught using a project based learning approach and the final project will require students to propose, design, build and test a prototype of a solution to solve an identified environmental water problem. Students that complete this course will have an understanding of the chemical nature of our environment and be ready to solve the environmental problems they may encounter in college and career.

Students will develop an understanding of environmental issues, current research results and methods, how to perform action research, and the importance of environmental issues to Southern California and our global economy. Course includes a community-based research project and presentation of results to peers and to the public. Students will become involved with an agency or professional to investigate a local environmental problem and develop skills to transfer their knowledge of science to new situations and applications.

Students will be introduced to the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Also included in the course will be CPR certification, strength and conditioning principles relative to fitness clubs, athletic training rooms, physical therapy clinics, YMCAs, and chiropractic offices. Designed to provide high school students with knowledge of career opportunities in the field of teaching, early childhood development, and other school site educational professions. Students will observe and participate in a variety of settings and classrooms at the preschool, elementary, middle, and secondary levels. Students will learn how to prepare and present weekly educational plans using a variety of options. Project based environment.

This course introduces a cultural and historical understanding of painting, sculpture and architecture with emphasis equally based on European art, sub Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Korea, India, China, Japan, Indonesia, Oceania and the Indigenous American cultures. The course provides familiarity with the development of art, its major movements and figures, and its relationship to the historical period in which it was created. Includes lectures, textbook readings, primary source reading, essay writing, field trips, group and individual projects.

Students learn to program in Java and develop their own games. They learn object-oriented program design, logic, problem solving and algorithm development in a lab environment.

Students learn the basics of coding and computer science while studying topics such as how the Internet works, bits and bytes, algorithms, abstraction, and big data and cybersecurity.

Investigation of real world topics chosen from multiple perspectives, which are often different or competing. Students can explore topics in humanitarianism, wealth & poverty or freedom.
