Alpine Jazz Choir is a 14-16 member jazz choir consisting of Skyline's strongest vocalists. This ensemble focuses on more contemporary music, including (but not limited to) jazz, show-tunes, pop, and contemporary a cappella. They perform in a minimum of four concerts a year, as well as additional community and school functions. Membership is audition-based and a yearlong commitment.

This class is recommended for students who excel in Drawing. Students who take this course should have a high level of motivation, diligence, commitment, and independence. Students will be encouraged to develop a personal direction or "voice" in their work. In addition to work created in class, students will be expected to work outside class time, participate in critiques and discussions, complete daily exercises to advance skills, maintain a sketch book, and mat their work for showings.

The primary objective of the advanced engineering projects course(s) is to provide an in-depth study of a specific engineering discipline primarily through open-ended, hands-on design experiences. The course(s) will begin with a specification of design objectives and constraints. They will continue through the development, documentation, and analysis of design ideas. They will end with the process of building and testing the solution. Through the cycle, the students are expected to follow a logical process involving careful documentation and quantitative analysis using mathematical tools and scientific principles.

The primary objective of the Advanced Engineering 1: Robotics course is to provide an in-depth study of robotics in a competitive environment. Students will be part of a team that dives into topics necessary to understand the fundamentals of designing, building, and programming a robot that can perform specific tasks. Students will follow the engineering design cycle as they document their process, analyze ideas, build, and test their robot in the classroom prior to competition opportunities outside of the classroom.

Advanced Metals takes metalsmithing to the next level, challenging students to refine their craftsmanship and push their creativity even further. Building on the foundations from Beginning Metals, students will explore advanced techniques such as casting, hollow forms, chain making, bezel setting, and alternative jewelry design. Each project encourages innovation and personal expression as students create both functional and sculptural works of art. A detailed sketchbook will accompany their studio practice, showcasing idea development, design growth, research, and planning throughout their creative journey.

This course is designed to expand on the technical and creative concepts acquired in beginning digital photography. Topics of instruction include photographic history, advanced digital camera functions including different lenses, exposure control, introduction to studio lighting, computer manipulation of images, digital archiving, digital output options, and digital print finishing. The class includes lectures, visual presentations, lab time, and a portfolio presentation. Students will use iPads and personal phones and have access to DSLR's. Students can borrow a DSLR, but our supply is limited. Students are encouraged to use their own. The elements and principles of art and the Colorado visual arts standards will guide the curriculum as students develop visual understanding and apply creative critical thinking skills. A lab fee is charged for all studio classes.

This class continues to offer advanced art students an opportunity to work on individual technique and approaches in a structured class setting. Students will be assessed based on the number of finished pieces produced in a specific time and participation in class critiques.

This is the most advanced level of classes in the Technical Theatre Vocational Education series. It may be taken repeatedly for credit with instructor approval. One-semester options are available with instructor approval. This class continues building on skills learned in Technical Theatre. It continues to focus on higher levels of set construction, lighting, theatre maintenance, operation of the fly system, and applying this knowledge in the day-to-day operations of the VBCA. Students completing this class will be expected to be leaders in the program and certified for the operation of VBCA lighting, sound, and fly systems. This class supports Skyline performing arts events, and students are expected to participate in running those events. Additional credits for participating students are available through the CTE 9999 course.

Introduces the cultural significance of the visual arts, including media, processes, techniques, traditions, and terminology.

Algebra 1 focuses on four critical areas: (1) using units and relationships between quantities; (2) reasoning with equations and expressions; (3) analyzing and using linear, exponential and quadratic functions; and (4) interpreting and displaying data using descriptive statistics. These concepts and associated skills are aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards for mathematics, incorporating 21st Century skills and postsecondary and workforce readiness competencies.

Algebra 2 focuses on three critical areas: (1) analyzing and using polynomial, rational, radical, exponential logarithmic, and trigonometric functions; (2) modeling sequences and series with recursive and explicit functions; and (3) making statistical inferences from data. These concepts and associated skills are aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards for mathematics, incorporating 21st century skills and postsecondary and workforce readiness competencies.

Algebra Honors 2 focuses on three critical areas in greater depth: (1) analyzing and using polynomial, rational, radical, exponential logarithmic, and trigonometric functions; (2) modeling sequences and series with recursive and explicit functions; and (3) making statistical inferences from data. Students also have the opportunity to study matrices to solve multi-variable systems of equations, the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra, the binomial theorem, rational and radical functions, properties of logarithms and conic sections.
