Designed to provide opportunities for students to finalize their postsecondary transition plans and develop concrete steps necessary to transition seamlessly into postsecondary, including being an active participant in developing a summary of performance.

Designed to equip students with the knowledge concerning the legal rights of individuals with a disability and how to advocate for themselves in their school and community settings.

Designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into postsecondary community involvement and independent living. Through a series of in-class and out-of-class activities, students will refine their self-awareness through a discovery process and then learn about relevant community support and how to access them.

Addresses four strands of literacy: Reading, writing, Listening and Speaking, and Language. Students read a variety of books, fiction and nonfiction, short stories, poetry, drama, and informational texts. Writing involves narrative, informative/explanatory, and argument modes.

Students read a variety of increasingly complex tests and write in various modes, with the additional expectation of extended reading, writing, and research. Students must complete one or more extended reading and writing assignments related to the quarter's content.

As in English II, students read a variety of increasingly complex texts and write in a variety of modes, with the additional expectation of extended reading, writing, and research. Requires mastery of grammar and language mechanics.

Continues to develop literacy skills through a survey of American Literature. Emphasis on analyzing complex expository works of literary nonfiction and various genres of American literature.

Analytical writing accounts for 80% of student writing. Focus on recurrent themes in American literature and foundational works of American political philosophy. Includes extended reading and writing assignments.

Cultivates reading and writing skills for college success. Focuses on evidence-based analytic and argumentative writing, rhetorical analysis of nonfiction texts, and decisions writers make during composition.

First year of a two-year sequence. Critical thinking in diverse genres. Reading selections are college-level and approved by the International Baccalaureate board. Includes preparation for IB Oral Commentary and Presentation.

Develops and clarifies skills through a survey of British Literature. Focus on analysis of text, research with citations, and developing increasingly sophisticated writing structures.
