2D Arts Intermediate (ART1202 Drawing II/ ART1302 Painting II/ART1110 Art Appreciation)
9 (second semester only),  10-12

This intensive course provides a rigorous, dual-focus introduction to the essential practices of two-dimensional art by combining the full curricula of Drawing I and Painting I. Students will not only practice and apply the skills learned in Beginning 2D but will actively extend those techniques through complex concepts and "big ideas."<br>In 2D Arts Intermediate, students deepen their knowledge of the variety of media, skills, and processes in the 2D arts. Course work incorporates specific, specialized, and self-initiated study of 2D media, skills, and processes. Additionally, studio work incorporates adequate time to experiment with the course work, develop personal expressions, reflect on artwork and their processes, and begin to transfer their skills to other opportunities. Within this context, students will be expected to develop a body of work surrounding a common theme. This course may explore more complex processes in Drawing, Painting, Photo, Graphics, Animation, and Printmaking.<br>Goal: Upon completion, students will have a strong portfolio demonstrating competency in both foundational drawing and basic opaque painting techniques<br>This class is being offered for free Concurrent Enrollment College Credit through Red Rocks Community College.  In order to qualify for Concurrent Enrollment credit, students are expected to complete a post-secondary registration form at their high school.  It is the responsibility of the student to check with the college which they are interested in attending, after high school graduation, to verify credit will transfer. These grades will be transcripted on both the Jeffco and Red Rocks Community College transcripts. <br>If a student wishes to transfer Concurrent Enrollment credit to another college, they must contact the college where they earned credit and request an official transcript.<br>When students register for this class, the receiving institution will be provided student registration information to verify student’s registration in the class.
