In the AVID elective class, students participate in activities that incorporate strategies focused on writing, inquiry-based learning, collaboration, and reading to support their academic growth. Students also receive instruction in motivational activities, academic survival skills, and college-entry skills. Embedded tutor-led study groups are an integral part of the learning process. Admission into the AvID elective consists of an application/interview process.

This internship is designed for students who are interested in assisting neurodiversestudents to succeed in a regular or special education classroom. Interns will serve aspeer tutors and/or teacher assistants. This class is designed to help involve thestudents of the SSN Program into the PHS community. You, as a peer intern, aregiving another student the opportunity to make friends and be included in events withinthe school. This course introduces students to the basics of vehicle ownership in both classroomand shop environments. Upon completion of the course, students will have anunderstanding of normal vehicle care and maintenance. Topics of study include basictool usage, roadside safety, basic vehicle maintenance, and responsible vehicleownership.

This course prepares students for taking the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)student certification exams. Students study advanced theory, operation, & repair of theengine, brake, steering, and suspension systems. This fall semester course is doubleblocked and must be taken with spring semester course Automotive Technology IV.

ACC ASE 1001 - FALL - Auto Shop Orientation provides students with safetyinstruction in the shop and on the automobile. Emphasis is placed on the proper useand care of test equipment, precision measuring and machining equipment, gaskets,adhesives, tubing, wiring, jacks, presses, and cleaning equipment and techniques.ACC ASE 1003- FALL - Auto Maintenance I course addresses three primary areas ofconcern for the average car owner. The first is the basics of how various systems onthe automobile work. The second is the maintenance required for the vehicle. The thirdis the financial concerns of owning the vehicle.ACC ASE 1020 - FALL - Basic Auto Electricity introduces vehicle electricity, basicelectrical theory, circuit designs, and wiring methods. This course focuses onmultimeter usage and wiring diagrams. This course meets MLR/AST/MASTrequirements.

CTE MLR II provides students with training in shop management practices includinginventory controls, OSHA and EPA compliance, and the soft skills necessary to stronginterpersonal skills. Please note this is a semester long, double block schedule coursemeeting 5 times per week.

CTE MLR IV is a final class to prepare students for the auto repair industry and tradeschool. CTE MLR I through IV will be reviewed to reinforce basic knowledge and skills,then put to use by performing major repairs on vehicles. Please note this is a semesterlong, double block schedule course meeting 5 times per week.

ACC COMP I & IIPrerequisite: successfulcompletion of Eng. I/Honors Eng.I, Eng. II/Honors Eng. II, Eng.III/Contemp. Lit. and Comp &ACC LIT., 3.0 GPA, 470 Eng.SAT, and teacherrecommendation.

Introduces parametric feature-based solid modeling 3D concepts to build confidence in3D thinking and progresses to three-dimensional parameters. This course providesinstruction on how to construct, modify, and manage complex parts in 3D space as wellas to produce 2D drawings from the 3D models. Students will have the opportunity toearn a Certified Solidworks Associate (CSWA) and Certified Solidworks Professional(CSWP) Industry Certification.

Introduces advanced applications of the 3D parametric software SolidWorks. Focusesinclude management of design data, advanced assembly, analysis of model creations,documentation of bill of materials and parts lists, rendering, animation, and dynamicsimulation and testing a model assembly. Students will have the opportunity to earnCSWPA Certifications in Weldments, Drawing Tools, Surfacing, Mold Tools and SheetMetal as well as prepare for the Certified Solidworks Expert Exam.

Introduces computer concepts and components, as well as application-suite software and the Internet. Includes descriptions of and hands-on experiences with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, operating environments and other common PC application packages. Suggest students take CTE Introduction to PC Applications first.
