The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC-R) 1 program is designed to train the student in the basic theory, fundamental principles, and the practical applications which develop the knowledge and skills necessary for entry into the basic industry service and installation occupations. The student should obtain EPA certification prior to completion in order to be employed in any job that requires work with refrigerants. The program was awarded a national accreditation by the ESCO Institute in 1999. Lively Technical College is an approved testing site for the E.P.A. Section 608 Refrigerant Certification and R410A Safety Certification. The program has an active advisory committee that works closely with the Externship Program to provide students valuable field experience upon completion of the course study.

The Master Automotive Services Technology program trains student with the latest software, simulators, and diagnostic equipment in all phases of automotive services and electronics technologies. The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on laboratory training in the troubleshooting, service, and repair of automotive systems as well as a platform for continuing education or employment in a rewarding, high-wage career. Comprehensive skills enhancement training in the following automotive service areas: engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxles, braking systems, engine performance, manual drivetrains/transaxles, suspensions/steering systems, heating and A/C systems and electrical/electronic systems.

The Lively Technical College Nails Specialty program prepares students for employment as a licensed Manicurist and Pedicurist. Instruction is designed to qualify students for employment upon successfully obtaining a manicure, pedicure, nail specialist certification from the Department of Professional Regulations Cosmetology Board. Specialized instruction and practical experience in manicuring, pedicuring and various nail extension procedures, related chemistry, anatomy, physiology, safety, sanitation and Florida Cosmetology Law are combined with communication and leadership skills to provide our graduates with a "cutting edge" in the nail care industry.

The Patient Care Technician program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to pursue entry-level employment in the health care industry as Patient Care Technicians. The Patient Care Technician works alongside other healthcare professionals to provide hands-on assistance to meet a patient's basic needs. In addition to basic patient care skills, the PCT curriculum includes medical and surgical asepsis, basic anatomy and physiology, cardiac monitoring, electrocardiography, phlebotomy, clerical skills related to patient care and professional and interpersonal concepts. The program consists of classroom/lab instruction as well as supervised/preceptor clinical activities. Career-driven students may utilize their PCT training, skills and knowledge as a stepping stone to careers in nursing or other healthcare fields. This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills, expanding the traditional role of the nursing assistant, for both acute and long term care settings.

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Architecture and Construction career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher order reasoning and problem solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Architecture and Construction career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to reading construction documents, understanding building codes in the pipe trades, plumbing pipe cutting and joining skills and plumbing layout and installation.

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Instructional Support Services career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the related career cluster. The goal is integrated competitive employment in the student's chosen occupation. The program is individualized for each student and documented in an individualized plan of study (IPS). Instruction is competency-based with integrated academic, technical, and problem-solving skills. The IPS consists of standards and benchmarks selected from one or more CTE programs to create an individualized plan of study for each student.

This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the Welding industry; planning, management, finance, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues. What You'll Learn: Apply intermediate shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) pipe welding (B-Class Welder) skills; Apply and understand fabrication techniques using pipe fitting techniques; Apply advanced gas-tungsten arc welding (GTAW) pipe skills on stainless steel pipe; Apply advanced gas-tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) heavy-wall pipe skills; Apply emerging welding technologies; New technology will consist of orbital welding on pipe and downhill pipe welding.

According to the Florida Board of Nursing and F.S. 464.019, the diploma nursing education program content includes but is not limited to at least fifty percent clinical training, and no more than half of that clinical training can be comprised of simulation. This program includes a professional nursing curriculum plan that documents the clinical experience and theoretical instruction in medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric, geriatric, and psychiatric nursing, in acute care, long-term care, and community settings. The program provides theoretical instruction and clinical application in personal, family, and community health concepts; nutrition; human growth and development throughout the life span; body structure and function; interpersonal relationship skills; mental health concepts; pharmacology and administration of medications; legal aspects of practice; as well as interpersonal relationship and leadership skills; professional role and function; and health teaching and counseling skills.

The content includes but is not limited to the following: maintaining and repairing diesel engines, performing diesel engine and bus preventive maintenance (PMI) inspections, maintaining and repairing ADA accessible lifts and ramps, maintaining and repairing basic electrical systems, and maintaining, and repairing steering and suspension systems.

Lively Technical College's Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair Technician program prepares students for entry into the automotive service industry. Students explore career opportunities and requirements of a professional auto mechanic. Students study equipment skills, safety regulations, routine maintenance, and customer service.

The content includes but is not limited to central services departmental organization and function; basic anatomy, physiology, microbiology and chemistry related to central service activities; quality assurance; infection control and isolation techniques, principles of safety; principles, methods and controls of sterilization processes; cleaning, processing, packaging, distributing, storing, and inventory control of sterile goods, instruments, trays, and equipment; medical terminology; surgical instrumentation; basic computer skills, interpersonal and job seeking skills, fundamentals of communication, case cart management, laparoscopic specialty, orthopedic specialty, flexible scope processing , shift supervisory skills and procurement of supplies and equipment.

This Industrial Pipefitter program focuses on broad, transferable skills, stresses understanding of the pipe fitting industry, and demonstrates elements of the Pipe Fitting Trades industry; such as planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues. Pipefitters, sometimes simply called fitters, install and maintain pipes that carry chemicals, acids, and gases. These pipes are used mostly in manufacturing, commercial, and industrial settings. Using bending machines, flame cutters and welding devices, pipe fitters cut, bend and join pipes that allow for the safe, smooth flow of high pressure substances. Fitters install and repair pipe systems in power plants, as well as heating and cooling systems in large office buildings. Some pipefitters specialize as gasfitters or steamfitters.
