Specialized academic instruction provided at the student's individual instructional level using modified teaching methods, content, or delivery to help students with disabilities learn general curriculum. Includes instruction in practical academic skills needed for daily living.

Instruction focused on developing communication skills including verbal and non-verbal communication, customer service skills, and social communication. Students practice ordering skills during social outings and learn to interact with others in work and community settings.

On-site work experience to prepare students for potential employment. Includes hands-on workshops with mock businesses such as coffee cart operations, Snack Shack, t-shirt sales, laundry service, Able Coffee Roasters Coffee Cart, Farmer's Market, and Owlet Bracelet business. Students learn job exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, work-based learning, customer service, money math skills, and how to use office equipment.

Instruction in everyday living tasks including meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry (measuring detergent, folding clothes, using dryers), hygiene, and completing everyday tasks such as paying for items and managing personal care. Focus on developing skills for independence based on each student's unique needs.

Learning the basics of travel and transportation including: implementing directions on a cell phone to find locations, exploring safer routes to destinations, understanding crosswalk behavior and street crossing safety, being vigilant in surroundings and doing traffic checks, utilizing public transportation methods, asking for assistance when needed, and using GPS for navigation around the community.

Instruction in social and personal behaviors necessary for employment and community integration. Includes P.R.I.D.E. values (Positive Mental Attitude, Respect & Responsibility, Integrity, Determination, Empathy), Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS), learning to greet others, building confidence, taking personal responsibility, and understanding individual rights. Social skills practiced during community outings.

Support in exploring and preparing for the world of work through the IUSD Career Link program. Activities include job exploration, workplace readiness training, self-advocacy, work-based learning, post-secondary counseling, and selecting a career pathway. Students may explore community college programming, volunteer work opportunities, and part-time employment through Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) services.

Alternative pathway diploma class that allows students with disabilities to learn history curriculum through modified teaching methods, content, or delivery at their own learning level, enabling them to work toward earning a high school diploma.

Managing and maintaining the on-site garden and operating the Farmer's Market. Students learn agricultural skills, plant care, harvesting, and sales at the campus Farmer's Market.

A news channel created and produced by IATP students. Students learn video production, media creation, news reporting, and broadcasting skills through hands-on production of their own news program.

Hands-on training in food service through operation of the coffee cart and Snack Shack. Students learn how to brew coffee, pour coffee, measure amounts of cream and sugar, recite order forms, give back change to customers, and practice customer service skills through selling real products and exchanging real money.

Learning basic money math skills including counting money, making change, understanding pricing, and handling transactions during on-site business operations. Practical application of financial concepts through student-run businesses.
