Ambassadors is a servant leadership class focusing on school and community outreach and building leadership capacity for students. Activities include peer education on sexual assault and harassment prevention, teen dating violence prevention, mental health awareness and suicide prevention, and welcoming new students to our school. Ambassadors serve as mentors to peers in our school as well as to elementary aged students at local elementary schools. This is an application and interview-based class. It is a requirement of class that students leave campus to participate in activities at other schools and sites; students are responsible for their own transportation. Ambassadors will meet as a class for $\\pmb { 1 } ^ { s t }$ and $2 ^ { n d }$ quarter only. However, there will be meetings, presentations, and other work throughout the year. Being an Ambassador is a year-long commitment.

What does it take to be a leader in today’s society? “Leadership by Design” addresses that question by helping students define what is important to them applying past lessons in leadership to their lives and aspirations and developing their own leadership style. Students explore the topic by analyzing examples of historical leadership, business leadership and sports leadership. Individuals who take this class have an opportunity to practice what they have learned in a real life experience that is meant to test their leadership skills. The class is designed to have an impact on any student's future plans and is not just for those currently holding leadership positions. At FRHS: Leadership By Design is a Project-Based Learning class that empowers students to identify social issues and to improve those situations through video production, writing, and social media work. This class will co-produce the end of year all-school celebration. RIDGE Leadership is a co-curricular course for students who seek out opportunities to expand, learn and practice all areas of leadership. Our focus will be servant leadership through collaboration in order to plan events, promote diversity and inclusion, create a family atmosphere, and increase awareness and acceptance of all populations. As a team, Ridge Leaders will become skilled in the art of leadership and apply their knowledge to improve the climate, culture, and spirit of FRHS. This will be achieved by planning exciting activities for school, building strong relationships, and engaging in inclusivity/equity training. RIDGE Leadership will be responsible for activities including Homecoming Week, Diversity Day, Adopt a Family, Make a Wish and Unity Day. This class will also participate in Give Next and No Place For Hate curriculum. Studied areas of leadership include (but are not limited to) emotional intelligence, understanding your WHY, global citizenship and effective communication. Within this organization students will work collaboratively with the advisors and may be required to develop a personal leadership plan, a personal leadership portfolio and submit project proposals. Students may also be asked to serve on school and district committees to represent student body perspectives. RIDGE Leadership will meet as a class for 1st semester only. However, there will be meetings, presentations, and other work throughout the year. Being a Ridge Leader is a year-long commitment.

Students will act in the capacity of teaching paraprofessionals with a focus on supporting students with special needs. Students will be specifically assigned to classes where the population is entirely made up of special needs students. Students may be assigned to individually support special needs students in mainstream classes. At FRHS: Students serving as peer helpers support students with special needs engage in school, work on class assignments, activities and follow class instructions. Peer helpers assist their classmates and fellow students with social and emotional skills and/or academic needs. Peer helper students will be actively engaging in activities that require positive peer-to-peer support and role modeling in class. Peer helpers can support students in academic classes, Integrated PE, Integrated Art, and/or Integrated Drama. Introduces accounting fundamentals with emphasis on the procedures and practices used in business organizations. Major topics include the accounting cycle for service and merchandising companies, including end-of-period reporting. At FRHS $\\pmb { \\mathscr { g } } ^ { t h }$ graders are strongly recommended to take Intro to Business before Fundamentals of Accounting A.

This second-level accounting class goes beyond what is learned in Accounting 1 by introducing students to special journals, preparing payroll and payroll taxes, corporate accounting, and accounting for a merchandising business. QuickBooks Pro automated accounting will supplement every chapter in the textbook. Students completing this class will be prepared to be an entry-level bookkeeper or data entry clerk. At FRHS students will have the opportunity to earn a National Bookkeeper Certification.

This course is a survey of economics. It is designed as a beginning economics class. The course covers economics theories, supply and demand, national income accounting, money and banking, market structures and contemporary economic issues.

Emphasizes public law, regulation of business, ethical considerations, and various relationships existing within society, government, and business. Specific attention is given to economic regulation, social regulation, labor-management issues, environmental issues, and contract fundamentals. This course analyzes the role of law in social, political, and economic change business environments. At FRHS: This class will prepare students interested in extracurricular mock trial competitions.

Teaches entrepreneurs planning skills from the development of a conceptual business to an actual comprehensive business plan. This practical approach includes one-on-one counseling with the instructor and professional volunteer counselors. Guest speakers are an integral part of the course. Additional topics include marketing strategies and tactics, liability protection, growth management, financial management and projections, networking, and funding options. At FRHS: Involvement in DECA is highly recommended.

Surveys the basic personal finance needs of most individuals and introduces the personal finance tools useful in planning and instituting a successful personal financial philosophy. The course emphasizes the basics of budgeting, buying, saving, borrowing, career planning, investing, retirement planning, estate planning, insurance, and income taxes.

Introduces the application of fundamental business principles to local, national, and international forums. This course examines the relationship of economic systems, governance, regulations, and law upon business operations. It surveys the concepts of career development, business ownership, finance and accounting, economics, marketing, management, operations, human resources, regulations, and business ethics.

Emphasizes effective business writing and cover letters, memoranda, reports, application letters, and resumes. This course includes the fundamentals of business communication and an introduction to international communication. This course introduces basic computer terminology, file management, and PC system components. Provides an overview of office application software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation graphics. Includes the use of a web browser to access the Internet.

An introductory business and marketing course enables students to acquire a realistic understanding of business processes and activities. Students examine fundamental economic concepts, the business environment, and primary business activities. They develop an understanding of and skills in such areas as customer relations, economics, emotional intelligence, financial analysis, human resources management, information management, marketing, operations, professional development, and strategic management. Throughout the course, students are presented ethical dilemmas and problem-solving situations for which they must apply academic and critical-thinking skills. At FRHS: Involvement in DECA is highly recommended.
