2 Semesters, 1 Credit Materials Fee:  $20/semester Prerequisite:  Successful completion of NCCER Core Curriculum. Teacher approval is required. Carpentry II continues to expose the student to more advanced phases of woodworking.  The focus is on safety, design, planning, measurement, and power tools, assembly and hardware, preparations and finishing materials, and employability skills.  The student works in a self-paced environment working on a major project.

2 Semesters, 1 Credit Materials Fee:  $20/semester Prerequisite:  Successful completion of Woods I. Teacher approval is required. Carpentry III enhances the student’s skills in cabinet making and trains the student to perform to industry standards.  The focus is on safety design, planning, measurement, technical reading, listening and reviewing assembly and hardware, preparation, materials and employability skills.

2 Semesters, 1 Credit Materials Fee:  $20/semester Prerequisite:  Successful completion of Woods I. Teacher approval is required. Carpentry IV is the first course in a two-year program that introduces the student to a competency-based program where the student shows that they can perform specific related tasks in preparation for a construction profession. The focus is on basic safety, an introduction to construction math, hand and power tools, responsibilities of a person working in the construction industry, and wood building materials, fasteners, and adhesives. The student follows the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) guidelines. The benefit of this is that construction craft training is standardized and many technical schools and colleges are using the same program.

2 Semesters, 1 Credit Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra I and Geometry or currently enrolled in Geometry This course  introduces the fundamentals of computer architecture, writing programs to solve a variety of problems, and the ethical use of computer systems. The student learns about the software and hardware components of the computer and how these components interact to execute a computer program. Areas of study include, but are not limited to: computer architecture and function, types of programming languages, computer programming and algorithm development, ethical use of computing resources, study of nontraditional math topics, and career applications.  The student can also receive preparation for an AP computer Science exam. Literacy strategies are integrated throughout the curriculum.

2 Semesters, 1 Credit Prerequisite: Teacher approval is required This course is designed to give instrumental music students an opportunity to advance their skills on an independent basis. Music independent study is offered to provide individual students with the opportunity to explore special talents or interests. Students will work with a classroom teacher to set personal learning goals and to determine the type of project of learning experience they would like to pursue. The classroom teacher and student will agree upon and determine how a grade will be determined (percentage grade or Pass/Fail). Independent study is designed to supplement a student’s educational pathway but cannot exempt a student from participating in their primary music class (band, choir, orchestra, guitar). Students must complete Independent Study paperwork and be approved for the course by the instructor. Special Requirements: Students should have their own instruments. The school can supply some instruments on a first come-first serve basis. Some fees may be assess to cover necessary supplies, instrument rental, cost of text books, and festival participation.

2 Semesters, 1 Credit Prerequisite: Teacher approval is required This course is designed to give students an introduction to playing brasswind instruments (Flute, Bass Clarinet, Trumpet, Baritone, Tuba). Students will learn how to properly hold the instrument, produce a good tone on the instrument, properly articulate, read musical notation, and how to perform simple melodies and appropriate level band compositions or arrangements. Music theory and music history will be studied as it relates to pieces being studied for performance. After school performances are considered an extension of the instructional process and are required. Beginning students may participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival. Special Requirements: Students should have their own instruments. The school can supply some instruments on a first come-first serve basis. Some fees may be assessed to cover necessary supplies, instrument rental, cost of text books, and festival participation.

The student and the parent sign a use of equipment contract and a media release form. Digital Film Production I is a fundamental, theory driven, hands-on instruction in filmmaking techniques.  Digital Film Production I introduces the student to the necessary skill sets, key concepts, and processes that lead to the creation of digital film/media products.  Literacy is integrated throughout the course.

2 Semesters, 1 Credit Prerequisite: Successful completion of Digital Film Production I. Teacher approval. required. The student may be required to pay for some out of school activities. The student participates in regularly scheduled events during and outside of the school day. The student and the parent sign a use of equipment contract and a media release form. Digital Film Production II focuses on the mastery of the theory, skills and concepts related to film production. The student develops advanced techniques and applies them to individual, collaborative, and community-based projects. The student continues to investigate and analyze current trends in filmmaking, including career opportunities, contemporary technical and aesthetic considerations. The student analyzes and applies best practices to film production projects, and evaluates their effectiveness in field productions. Literacy is integrated throughout the course.

2 Semesters, 1 Credit Prerequisite: Successful completion of Digital Film Production II. Teacher approval required. The student may be required to pay for some out of school activities. The student participates in regularly scheduled events during and outside of the school day. The student and the parent sign a use of equipment contract and a media release form. Digital Film Production III offers the student an opportunity to further study filmmaking principles and techniques with emphasis on mastery of aesthetic and technical skills and concepts. The student refines advanced techniques through work on individual, collaborative and community-based projects. The student integrates current trends in filmmaking, including career opportunities, and contemporary, technical, and aesthetic considerations into their work. The student develops and determines best practices for film production projects and evaluates their effectiveness in field productions. Literacy is integrated throughout the course.
