Students are introduced to literary genres, literary terms, and analysis of literature. Students read at least two major works each semester and read independently as well. Students also expand their research skills, reading informational texts and exploring current issues through reading, writing, and projects.

Reading will include plays, novels, short stories, and poetry from around the world. Students also focus on analyzing informational texts to determine authors' positions and will practice synthesizing sources to defend a position in preparation for the Smarter Balanced Assessment. The work in this year is also focused on preparing students for future IB coursework.

IB LA 11 and IB LA 12 are considered a two-year course. Students explore literature, film, journalism, and linguistics. Each semester includes formal presentations, analysis essays, and some creative writing. Students who begin the course in 11th grade may be eligible to test for college credit at the end of the 12th grade year as long as they successfully complete their major assessments each year. At the higher level, students are expected to take the HL exam and will produce additional coursework.

This class is for students who need additional English support to be successful in their core content courses.

This class is for students who have recently begun learning English to support them in the acquisition of the language, as well as language necessary to navigate the school and community.

Students enrolled in this class will participate in several different sports including, but not limited to, track and field, rugby, football, floor hockey, tennis, badminton, speed away, basketball, and ultimate frisbee. Significant time and effort during the semester will be devoted to each student's performance of the five components of personal fitness. In addition, state law now mandates that each student take the curriculum-based assessment entitled 'Concepts of Health and Fitness.'

This class is an introduction to weight training, conditioning, and body awareness. Students will learn how to effectively stretch and warm-up prior to performing in the weight room. Students will learn the main concepts of lifting power and auxiliary lifts as well as cardiovascular endurance. Students will also learn and follow the basic rules and organization of the weight room. The Physical Fitness tests will also be a required activity.

This course will be an introductory experience to low impact activities typically performed and enjoyed throughout adulthood. The semester might include some or all of the following activities: table tennis, badminton, pickle ball, bowling, capture the flag, frisbee golf, walking, bocce ball. Students in this class will also be expected to perform all of the Physical Fitness tests. Emphasis will be placed on improving fitness, having fun, and learning about healthy living.

This course encompasses a variety of different activities based around aerobics. Enjoy the benefits yoga and core training can provide by participation in this class. Areas of focus will be on low impact activities to improve overall flexibility, strength, core and cardiovascular endurance. Reduction of stress and increased ability to focus is an added benefit that typically coincides with yoga practice. This course also introduces a self-paced walking program as a lifelong fitness activity that maintains and enhances physical fitness and well-being. Provides basic information and tools needed to understand, organize, plan, and implement a physical fitness program that features walking as the primary activity. Class format will be developed towards training and testing the five health related components of physical fitness (cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility and body composition). Emphasis will be placed on improving fitness, having fun, and learning about healthy living.

In a Unified Physical Education class, the class is directed towards and planned for students with disabilities to meet their needs and in their Least Restrictive Environment. General education students will participate as classmates taking on roles as partners, leaders, peer models, and to establish a culture of inclusion and support. This course will accommodate all levels–beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The Physical Fitness testing will be incorporated into each week throughout the semester as well as Yoga, Bocce Ball, Badminton, Bowling, Walking, Frisbee Golf, Swimming, etc.

This class will focus primarily on the 'Big 5' major team sports; volleyball, soccer, softball, basketball, and football with an emphasis on the competitive aspect of these activities. Students should be prepared and enthusiastic about a rigorous workout. The Physical Fitness testing will be incorporated into each week throughout the semester.

The foundation for career planning is developing a better understanding of oneself. Students will explore their learning styles, identify their personal values, understand personality types, evaluate their employability skills, and discover career interests as they start planning for their future through authentic classroom projects. The purpose is to provide students with instruction in the career planning process directly related to local industry data, career interest, and skill attainment. Students will explore future careers and set goals to support their success during high school and beyond and learn the basics of financial literacy. To conclude the course, students will demonstrate their 21st century skills and create their first resume.
