The purpose of this course is to provide integrated educational experiences to native speakers of a language other than English in the language arts strands of reading, writing, listening, viewing, speaking, language, and literature.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the semantic, structural, and rhetorical resources of the English language as they relate to the principles of effective writing. The course is also designed to provide students with a variety of writing opportunities calling for the use of different styles and tones.

The purpose of this course is to involve students in the study and practice of writing and in the study of literature. Students should acquire an understanding of the resources of the language and understanding of the writer’s craft. They should develop critical standards for the appreciation of any literary work and increase their sensitivity to literature as shared experiences.
