I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communications Public Relations, with a Japanese minor and certificate from Brigham Young University. I lived right outside of Tokyo, Japan for half of my life, spending time getting to know Japanese relatives and learning about the culture. I also lived in Sapporo, Japan as a young adult service missionary and taught English classes to Japanese natives. Upon returning to the U.S. after my service mission, I taught Japanese to young adults preparing to live in Japan as service missionaries. I have always enjoyed sharing with others, the love I have for the Japanese language and culture. I am a lifelong learner and believe there is power in knowledge. When I'm not tutoring, I love reading good books, going on fun dates with my husband, and enjoying the outdoors.

Hi, I'm McKenzie! I am currently a student at UVU studying Secondary Education with an emphasis in Theatre! Although on the opposite end of the spectrum, my specialty for tutoring is math. I'm dedicated to making math easy and understandable to all kids k-12! I am not originally from Utah, however. I moved to the Orem/Provo area last August to attend UVU, but originally I'm from a suburb just north of Dallas, Texas! I've loved my time in Utah so far, and I look forward to making lasting impressions on the children I get the opportunity to work with out here as well!

I am currently student teaching in a physics classroom in high school. I finished the coursework for my bachelors degree at Brigham Young University in Applied Physics with an Emphasis in Education. I have several years of experience conducting educational acoustics labs for non-physics majors and conducting research for a senior thesis. I love helping people understand complicated concepts. The payoff of their excitement and relief when they understand is one of the best feelings. I genuinely enjoy working with people and have been told I uplift those who work around me.

Learning is invigorating! Increasing our knowledge increases our understanding of the world and our satisfaction with life. We should take every opportunity to learn, be passionate about what we learn, and allow it to be fun and exciting.

My life's mission statement is to build, lift, and inspire other people! I am currently working on obtaining an English Teaching degree to better be able to accomplish that mission. I want to get a job as a high school English teacher after graduating from BYU. I have had several long-term opportunities to tutor, both unpaid and professionally and I recently received my Level 1 Tutoring certificate from the College Reading and Learning Association.

I believe in the education system. But I think what gets lost in translation is that learning is not fun. I felt that way as a young student. Until I found ways to make it fun and enjoyable. I want to help students realize their potential while making learning fun.

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Teaching Physical Science. During my undergraduate years, I was a volunteer tutor for college algebra and physical science, and also ran a math and science tutoring lab for a charter school and did private math tutoring for high school students. In recent years, I have had the opportunity to work as a paraprofessional working one on one with a number of special education students, and tutoring third graders with low literacy scores to improve reading skills. Since November 2011, I have been working as the science teacher at a private boarding school for girls. A lot of my work there has involved working individually with students in chemistry, physics, biology, earth science, various math classes, and a variety of electives. I have traditionally preferred tutoring physics and math, but recently constructed a chemistry course that has built my enthusiasm for that subject. I have had experience teaching students of many ages and abilities, and believe that patient and understanding instruction is paramount to a students success. I am very patient and caring, and I take a sincere interest in my students. I consider myself to be a well rounded person, and have many interests outside of my academic field. I enjoy literature and theatre, and I love to travel and see and experience new things. I have a particular fondness for the outdoors, and enjoy camping, hiking, and biking.

I have always felt deeply drawn to positions that would allow me to assist people of all ages in the processes of learning and development. This led me to become a sought-out tutor before even graduating high school. I went on to become a certified water safety instructor for five years, and worked with children in my religious group. I later tutored in College, as well as a variety of other programs for elementary and high school students. I taught English in a foreign language and country, and have assisted in classrooms in several different school districts. I have also had the opportunity to coach and mentor adults!It is very important to me that in fostering education, the individual is both empowered and strengthened. My personal intent is to have a lasting and positive influence on everyone I interact with, that they will know they are both supported and loved.Because I am extremely creative, when I am not working with clients and students, I am making art. I also love to run, study, and sing by participating in choirs.I absolutely look forward to having the opportunity to meet and work with you!
