I am a recent College grad with a passion for reading and the production and interrogation of knowledge.

I am a fully certified as a bilingual elementary school teacher, with degrees and certifications from the University of Arizona. After graduating in 2015 I decided to put teaching on hold and pursue my passion of travel. I have been working as a flight attendant for United Airlines since June of 2015 and am planning to do this for the foreseeable future. That being said, I really miss teaching and am looking for way to immerse myself back into the education field part-time.

I enjoy working one on one with students to increase their understanding, learning and confidence. I like to use different methods of teaching, depending on the individual and their strengths. I am an advocate for determination, organization, and hard work in approaching learning and achieving success in school.

Hello!My name is Alexis. I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona where I attended both University of Arizona and Arizona State University to study Theatre Arts and Communication. During my time there, I led a few different projects, including a theatre festival, so I am well-versed in leadership, presentation, and public speaking. In May 2017, I will be obtaining my MFA in Acting from Brown University. On top of acting and performance, I love to write, read (when I have the time), and create.I am an actor/director/theatremaker first and foremost. I believe in the power of the voice and that everyone has a right to be heard. I love watching people emerge from behind the walls we all put up to protect ourselves. I try to encourage everyone I work with to be in charge of their voice and how they use it and to not be afraid to be seen. We all contain so much wonderful potential and I enjoy watching people tap into that!

I am a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago. I received my Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a minor in Spanish. I have traveled extensively and lived abroad in Spain for a while. I volunteered as an English teaching assistant tutoring children at a bilingual school while I took intensive Spanish courses. I tutor a broad set of subjects yet I am the most passionate about Spanish, Social Studies, and English. My specialization is in teaching English as a second language (ESL). I have over 120 hours of training and I am going to become officially TEFL certified at the end of December 2020. I am very passionate about helping people learn new languages and giving students an important cultural capital that will improve their lives. Today, I volunteer as an online tutor, teaching English to recent Canadian Immigrants through Nevy's Language. In my spare time, I love to read, jog, play the piano, watch movies (especially in Spanish), painting, and above all traveling!

I have worked as both a tutor and a classroom aide for the past two years, helping students from the elementary to the high school levels. My academic specialties lie primarily in the areas of social science, literature, and grammar, and I have experience working with college essays and ACT testing. I have two masters degrees with one in Educational Technology, and the other in K-12 Online Teaching. I am compassionate to learners of all kinds and believe that together we can grow as learners.

I am a currently practicing Emergency Room nurse, and have been in the DC area for going on 3 years. In addition to nursing, I also have degrees in biomedical science and humanistic studies, so I am able to tutor in english and writing as well as biology and physiology. Je parle francais aussi.I have helped many people edit papers, from english to research proposals, and I enjoy helping people find their rhythm and voice. I also thrive on talking people through basic to difficult concepts in biomedical science and it's derivatives.I am dynamic, interactive and approachable when I teach. I can switch gears or adjust my style to fit my student and what they need. I do believe everyone can improve their verbal skills and the life sciences are not pure memorization, so there is a chance for anyone to succeed given the right guidance.In my free time, I love pursuing outdoor sports such as rock climbing and snowboarding. I am also very into traveling, cooking, and dancing.
