I'm interested in getting to know students to evaluate how best to accommodate or complement their learning desires and needs. I want to know what makes them apprehensive to or love a subject/topic and how to engage them to advance from where they begin. It should be an exciting journey for both of us!I'm a recently graduate dentist who has a strong writing, science, and math background!

I graduated from St. Olaf College with a major in Sociology/Anthropology and have completed most of my graduate coursework in Public Administration. Throughout my college and early post college years I spent time tutoring and substitute teaching for students from a variety of backgrounds with a special interest in working with K-12 students on writing and social studies skills. I also spent 4 years working in my undergraduate college admissions office and have a passion for helping students write college essays. I am a strong believer in working with my students to help them find the solutions they need to thrive. I also genuinely enjoy working with students and helping them develop or refine a passion for history, culture, and writing. In my free time I love to cook and explore the North Shore of Minnesota!

I have worked in four countries and specialize in foreign languages (Spanish and French), but I also have taught science and English for 7 years. I have good strategies in standardized test preparation that will certainly improve your scores, as Ive gone through it myself plenty of times with very good results! My undergraduate degree is in geology from Oberlin College, and I have Master's degrees from the University of Arizona in Geography and UMSS in Bolivia in GeoInformation as a Rotary Scholar. I am patient and approachable, and I love to help! Personal interests are music, soccer, and travel.

I am currently a branch librarian just outside of Minneapolis/St. Paul. I received my Masters in Library and Information Science, with a youth services focus, from Simmons College in Boston, MA. I earned my Bachelor of Arts, a dual degree in Writing Intensive English and Journalism, with a Minor in History, from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Since completing my education I’ve worked in a wide variety of academic settings from an inner city middle school in Cambridge, MA to an elite private preschool-12th grade school in Baton Rouge, LA, to a charter school focused on Hmong culture and heritage in St. Paul. My role in the Charter School in St. Paul was that of reading tutor with Minnesota Reading Corps, because of this and my literature background, I am most comfortable with reading and writing instruction. I also worked on reading and writing while volunteering at 826 Boston. In addition to reading and writing instruction for students of all ages, I have experience tutoring and teaching all subjects studied in early elementary school. I gained this experience from tutoring students at 826 Boston and subbing consistently at the school in Louisiana. I believe that tutoring sessions should be educational and skills increased, but it should also be fun, and if a student’s confidence in a subject area increases, then I feel I am succeeding. Once confident in their ability to achieve their goals, I find students are more likely to put forth the effort and eventually achieve their goal. In addition to teaching and tutoring, I like running, yoga, reading, scrapbooking, and generally staying fit in mind and body.

I am currently a High School Language Arts teacher for students with special needs. I love what I do and the students I work with. I have experience with tutoring all ages and academic levels in English and Math. I am willing to try new things including new teaching experiences. I am also looking forward to working with different types of students to reach their goals.

Teaching is an opportunity to share my passion for learning while helping students build skills and confidence that will help them academically and/or artistically, and more broadly in their lives. I am an experienced physician assistant (PA) educator and clinician. I enjoy working with students to help them meet and obtain their professional goals. I work with students to identify their preferred learning style and areas for improvement.

I graduated with high honors from Luther College this spring, where I majored in Biology. I will be going to medical school at the University of Minnesota Duluth starting this fall. I worked for SummerVentures Childcare through Northfield Public Schools, Northfield, MN, for four summers. Last summer I was the instructor for the SummerVentures Tween Program for children ages ten to fourteen. I have experience tutoring with the Luther College Student Academic Support Center. I also volunteered as a peer math tutor in high school. While at Luther College, I was also employed as a lab assistant, resident assistant, and student research assistant.

I have two degrees: a B.A. in English and a B.F.A. in Creative and Professional Writing. I will be going to graduate school for a degree in English with a specialization in 20-21st century literature. The bulk of my experience is with high school and college aged students. I have years of experience with tutoring writing through my undergraduate school, and have mentored for the English program for several years. I will be teaching freshmen English/Writing during graduate school.

I have been a Dental Hygienist for 30 years and am well versed in the field. Part of that time was spent teaching students clinical skills at a university. I am also a Functional Nutritional Therapist using nutrition and real food to heal the body so people can feel good again. I am very knowledgeable in food and nutrition to get healthy and supplements to aid in nutritional deficiencies. Please let me know if I can be of any help. I would love to tutor you.
