I'm a rising junior at Stanford University majoring in International Relations and minoring in Education, and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. I am most passionate about history, but I really enjoy math and writing too. I've been working extensively in educational settings for the past two years, working as a middle school TA and after school program academic classroom director/tutor. In my free time, I love having conversations with my friends and students, reading, dancing, listening to music, and hanging out with my younger sisters. My mission is to work my hardest to make learning and tutoring truly fun, so that it doesn't feel like a chore or obligation for anyone. I currently teach English Special Education in a high school setting. I've worked with many students with varying disabilities. I am able to differentiate instruction so that all of my students' learning goals can be met. I received my Bachelors in English at Montclair State University. Shortly after, I received my Master of the Art of Teaching degree at Montclair State. I hold two certifications, English and Teacher of Students with Disabilities.Before teaching, I served as a mentor and English tutor to college students. I enjoy working with students because I love to see students become actively engaged in their thinking. I believe that the classroom is a great place to practice collaboration, social skills and metacognition while inviting students to advocate for themselves.One of my favorite quotes is "if a student can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn" by Ignacio Estrada. My name is Daniel. I am an entomologist and animal scientist. I am also a teacher for ninth grade students with special needs.I have a Bachelor of Science in Entomology, and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary Medicine from The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers University. I also have an Associate Degree in General Biology. I am currently working on a Master of Science in Medical Entomology at University of Florida.My research has included toxicology analysis with certain defense mechanism enzymes in a specific species of mosquitoes in relation to incubation periods of certain insecticides, at Rutgers University. In addition, I have also authored a paper and experiment on Time Domain Nuclear Magnetic Resonance in relation to nutritional content of animal feed, at Princeton University. Throughout my education, I have also participated in pine snake migration studies, lion fish epidemic research, coral bleaching surveys, animal nutritional analysis techniques, and various microbiology and organic chemistry experiments.My ultimate goal is to one day introduce entomology into public schools. Hopefully, combining my teaching background with my scientific education and experience, entomology will get the attention and interests that it needs.I look forward to meeting and helping anyone that I can!

I have taught Latin and Greek at Princeton University, University of Miami, University of Michigan and New York University. A great tutor customizes instruction for the particular needs of the student. One must quickly diagnose the main areas the student needs to improve, so as not to waste time. A great tutor can see outside the box and be flexible enough to explain the same concept in a variety of ways, depending on the needs of the student. A tutor must be more personable with the student than a classroom teacher, who to a certain degree, must hide behind a teaching persona. Lastly, in addition to speaking with the utmost clarity, a great tutor must have excellent listening skills.
