I am a recent graduate of Tulane University, where I received my Master of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology. For my undergraduate years I attended Howard University in Washington, DC, where I was a Biology major and Chemistry minor. I have traveled to the Caribbean as well as to China for study abroad programs. While a student at Howard University, I worked with DC Public Schools as an elementary and middle tutor. I was also an assigned tutor for Biology and Organic Chemistry at Howard University. I am able to help with a variety of subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physiology, Genetics and other basic sciences. I can also help with AP Calculus if need be. My favorite subject to tutor is Biology because I have a passion for helping students understand how living organisms work. I feel it is my strongest subject, and I know I can help committed students learn the material. My tutoring style is geared towards making the experience of studying the material enjoyable for the student. I often use mnemonics and analogies to make the information more understandable. I also promote notecards to study as it improves retention of information.I am a very outgoing, friendly, and patient individual. I am able to travel to meet with clients, and if there is still difficulty with any subject, I will offer to tutor at a library or college. My content focus for this exam has been English (reading and writing) and Social Studies. My teaching philosophy (especially when it comes to standardized tests) stems from my background in athletics. My whole life, I've competed, and what I've learned is this: the harder you practice, the easier the game will be. Regardless of the topic I teach, I aim to bring a variety of different examples and practice questions in order to see the topic from every angle - that way, by the time the test comes around, there's nothing that hasn't been seen before. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy running, reading, cooking, and watching stand-up specials or movies with friends.

I have helped students in grade school with Elementary Math, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics while volunteering at homeless shelters in Valdosta. I also provided free assistance to students and residents in various math courses such as College Algebra and Statistics through one-on-one sessions from student referrals by professors, classmates, and residents under my supervision. However, the subject that I am most passionate about within Math and love to tutor would be Algebra. As a student, I have experienced my share of ups and downs when it came to Algebra, but I continued to work through the difficulties and found ways to make learning more fun so that it no longer felt like work.
