My name is Brad Cotten, and I am a PhD candidate at The Ohio State University studying nutrition and biology. I greatly enjoy teaching students and sharing my research interests with others. Areas of studies I am experienced in teaching include mathematics, statistics, biology, chemistry, and writing. While committing to a professional and organized teaching environment, I am also aware of the benefit of making studies as fun and enjoyable as possible. I have witnessed such an environment is most conducive to promoting comprehension and application of studies.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to be a teacher. From that point on, I was determined to help each child find their love for learning and succeed That is my main teaching goal in life: That each child discovers their love for learning-whatever it may be!

In high school, I was a member of the Shortridge High School Daily Echo newspaper. It was one of the few daily high school newspapers in the country. For three years, I was an editorial columnist on health and wealth topics for the Indianapolis Star. Due to the compelling topics and timeliness of issues, I appeared on local NBC and FOX 59 news segments. I am an author of two Personal Finance books Women and Money and The Value Book and a historical book, Indiana Avenue Life and Musical Journey from 1915 to 2015.I have a B.S. degree in Environmental Science from Stanford University and an MBA degree in Finance from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. I have completed 25 hours towards a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Writing from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.I have worked at Fortune 100 and major pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly and Covidien.Tutoring ExperienceSince high school, I have tutored and mentored students from elementary to graduate school. I enjoy working with young people and helping them achieve a thirst and enthusiasm for learning! I am currently a freshman at Purdue University studying to become a Mechanical Engineer. I'm here to help on anything from math, english, history and standardized test-related because I know that school can be rough and sometimes we all need a bit of help. I worked as a math tutor back in high school and I can teach all the way up to Calculus 3. I personally love teaching math as it's my favorite subject in school. Outside of school and tutoring life, I love reading, traveling, listening to music, taking long walks in the fall and writing poems/short stories.

I have spent most of the last 20 years teaching and training others both in the classroom and on-the-job. I have a B.S. in Chemistry and Biology as well as an M.A. in Biology. I have taught college-level courses in Introductory Biology, Microbiology, and Anatomy and Physiology. Though, I also teach non-majors, most of my students are planning careers in health care fields such as nursing and respiratory therapy. I also have experience teaching HS level Biology and Integrated Chemistry and Physics as well as math remediation courses for those not prepared for Algebra. I have worked with students of all ages, but I have a particular passion for teaching and working with adults. I particularly enjoy helping adult students overcome their fear of math and science.

My name is Abneris, I go by Aby and I recently graduated from my MS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Michigan. I also recieved a graduate certificate in Women Studies at the same institution. Before that, I obtained my BS in Microbiology with a concentration in Chemistry. I have taught students from middle school to graduate school and I have enjoyed the learning process very much. I am excited to start working with Varsity Tutors and help further the education of my students.

As someone training to become a teacher, I've always had a passion for both learning and teaching. Growing up, basically everyone around me has said that they are either bad at math or they are just not capable of understanding it. I really want to change that, and part of that starts with experience. My goal is to start with personal tutoring in order to aid individuals with learning material, but I also want to learn how people learn and what methods help people the most. So I'm not just doing this to help students, I also wish to learn from this experience as well.

I have been tutoring students for over three years, and am looking forward to continuing to help students through Varsity Tutors.I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences with a concentration in environmental public policy in December, 2020. I received triple honor distinctions.I have tutored students previously in middle school math, algebra 1, algebra 2, all levels of reading from helping students learn to read to proof-reading college level papers. I worked with Qkids, teaching young Chinese Students how to speak English.I started college two years early, skipping my last 2 years of high school. All of the classes a typical student takes their last two years of high school I took at Ball State University along with my intro-to-college classes. I was one of the top students in my program.Now, I currently work for the Indiana Senate as a legislative intern, and with Varsity Tutors as an independent contractor. I love both jobs, as they allow me to pursue multiple separate passions at once - education, policy, and helping new and awesome people I get to meet!
