I have been an instructor of German levels I, II, III, IV and German Conversation at the UWM School of Continuing Education since 2010. I also teach a German for Travelers course, which continues to be popular among those who are about to travel to Germany. More than just language, I teach cross-cultural awareness. Bilingual in English and German, I also know Spanish and French.
My academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/international business with minors in economics and German from Minnesota State University. Between high school and college, I was a foreign exchange student in Germany for one year, where I lived with a German host family and attended the Wilhelm Gymnasium in Braunschweig.
Professionally, I have 20+ years experience in the area of business management, marketing, operations and sales having worked in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. During this time, I lived and worked in Germany for over three years as the director of sales and marketing for a German manufacturer of medical rehabilitation and sports training equipment, covering Europe and the Middle East. I understand the cultural nuances related to marketing and selling products globally and continue to apply my skills in the field of international business supporting companies with my sales and marketing expertise, in addition to translating collateral and correspondence used in sales and marketing into German.
In my free time, I enjoy real estate investing, mountain biking and international travel having been to more than 65 countries, most recently Costa Rica to improve my Spanish.
