What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy lies in getting to the root of the problem. I want to know exactly what the students are struggling with and help them specifically in that regard in order to see them improve.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would first want to address the student's concerns and questions, and also see if they had a particular learning style that would help me cater my strategies. I would also want to know what they wanted to get out of the tutoring session, so I could make sure to meet that need. Next I would develop a plan or outline to help that student improve before diving into the tutoring session.
