Start from the fundamentals and together move to the actual concept.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Take notes as they read the text and create an image of the story to identify the key points of the story they have read.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Be friendly to the student so they can feel like they are working with their own brother and be more comfortable and relaxed.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Take it easy, start from easiest test questions to the most challenging, then demonstrate to the student how to break down a challenging question to an easy one.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Test the student to make sure he is confident that his answers are correct.

Get the student to solve the most challenging questions by himself.

Listen to the student first to see what he thinks is his problem.
