About Maine

Maine is a state located on the Northeast tip of the United States, and is a part of the New England region. This state is known for its lush and beautiful natural areas, including its rocky coastline, rolling mountains, scenic waterways, and forested regions. Up until 1820 Maine was a part of the commonwealth of Massachusetts, but it seceded on March 15th of that year to become its own state. About 1.3 million people now call Maine home, and its capital city is Augusta.

Some excellent secondary institutions are located within this state, and a few of these respected schools include Yarmouth High School, Cape Elizabeth High School, Falmouth High School, and Brewer High School. Students in Maine concerned with that big upcoming exam should consider working with a tutor, either in-home or online, who can provide private instruction and test prep.

Tutoring review by Kimberly in Maine
It was great seeing the student today! Today, we were able to solve quadratic equations using the method of completing the square. After a few tries, we realized it didn't click with her, so we started solving the problems a different way that involved the "x-box." After a while, she started to get this version better, so we stuck with it. For homework, I asked her to please keep working on those past problems.

The student and I have covered a lot of topics leading up to his first test. I feel he will be very prepared. Topics included: graphing, domain and range, calculator tricks, taking the time to write out steps and seeing the importance of organized work, scatter plots, positive and negative relationships, etc.

Tutoring review by Lindsay in Maine
The student and I reviewed a self-assessment reflection paper due in her course. We worked on sentence-structure and organization of paper content. She had a great attitude as always and was willing to make appropriate edits to her paper. I made track changes to the document, and participated in an online session. I hope that she receives the maximum amount of points on this paper.

Tutoring review by Winnie in Maine
We worked on his biology project where we focused on different organelles within prokaryotes/eukaryotes cells. We focused primarily on the mitochondria, ribosomes, rough and smooth ER, the and Golgi apparatus. For each of the organelles, we talked about the location and it's purpose. We used illustrations to help him better understand the role of each organelle in a cell. Hopefully, in our next session, he will fully comprehend the role of each organelle in the body.
