I am a recent transplant to the Seattle area. Before moving here, I lived in Memphis, Tennessee. In Memphis, I taught high school Mathematics. Since moving here, I have missed the opportunity to work with students. I have a master’s degree in education and a bachelor's degree in molecular biology and biotechnologies.I look forward to being able to work with students. My passion in teaching is making mathematics accessible to everyone. I particularly enjoying working on Algebra II, Pre-calculus and Trigonometry. I also love getting to work on ACT prep.Beyond teaching I am a very active person, I try to get outside as often as I can. Traveling is perhaps my biggest passion. I am excited to start exploring the Pacific Northwest!

After obtaining my Math degree from the University of Houston, I decided to go into teaching. I have taught high school math for 5 years in Texas and 5 years in California. Additionally, I owned my own tutoring service in New Jersey, and have worked for several companies as a tutor. I especially love being a math tutor (even more than being a teacher) because I've found that working with a student one-on-one accomplishes so much! I love building confidence and ability, and always want to make the student feel comfortable communicating their concerns with me! I also love tutoring ESL, as I have lived in Spanish speaking countries and have a love of languages.

I am very passionate about helping others learn. I have over four years of experience working in a school district and my major is teaching as well. I enjoy the learning process and finding new and innovative ways to teach and learn. I believe that there are different ways that people learn and my goal is to figure out how an individual learns best so that they can take on any course or content they studying. I have worked with students in various grade levels and with students who have special learning needs. I have a strong background in reading, writing, and math at the elementary and middle school level.Additionally, I have had an in home daycare business that had a curriculum in place for younger children, particularly those children that were not able to have the opportunity to go to preschool. School age children that I worked with received homework tutoring assistance from me. When it comes to teaching strategies, I feel that it is pertinent to teach to the student. Direct instruction is a strategy that I have used, but differentiated instruction I feel is equally valuable when tutoring and teaching students. Each student learns and processes differently. My goal is to find the key of how they learn and incorporate that into how I assist them.I am excited to work with you and help you reach your goals, expand your knowledge, and be successful. There is an old saying: “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” It would be an honor to be your teacher.
