About Me

Hello, my name is Katie. My family and I just moved to Kansas City from New Jersey. I have been a teacher for six years. I have been a Kindergarten and a First Grade teacher. I have my Master's in Elementary Eduation focusing on Curriculum. I am confident in my skills that I will be a successful tutor in Literacy, Math, Phonics, Science and Social Studies. In my tutoring sessions your student will be exposed to high quality lessons with several different approaches. We will use manipulatives, oral languguage, dramatic play and other hands on activities to make learning fun. We will also use the more traditional approaches such as using pen and paper, computers and white boards to practice writing and math. My skill set, passion, and teaching experience make me confident that I would be a wonderful tutor for your child. My love for teaching is unparalleled, and I am truly committed to being a life long learner. As an educator it is my goal to instill that same passion in my students and those around me.

In my tutoring sessions you will see students excel in an environment with clear expectations and positive reinforcement. When instruction is being delivered it is well planned, targeted, and differentiated to ensure that all students are learning. Students are exposed to many teaching styles, manipulatives, and technology. I am reflective and able to determine next steps quickly. My data reflects high-quality instruction, where students meet and exceed grade level expectations. I am consistently seeking out new learning opportunities and I frequently attend district professional development classes. In December 2013 I graduated with my Master's in Curriculum of Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Reading and Writing.
