I'm a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania who studied Linguistics and Deaf Studies. I eventually hope to work towards breaking down barriers between the Deaf and hearing worlds and encouraging greater focus on reforming Deaf education practices.

I'm Ben, and I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2014 with a major in English and a minor in French. I've been a passionate wordsmith all my life - I'm a thorough reader and an articulate writer and I'm excited to help you develop in these areas. I am also a fluent French speaker; I worked as a tutor for beginning classes in the Dartmouth French department, and spent the past year in France teaching English to middle and high school students. I am an energetic tutor with an abundance of tutoring experience in a broad range of subjects. As a biology major at Washington University in St. Louis, I am well-versed in chemistry, biology, physics and calculus. I have privately tutored elementary through high school students in these areas of study, as well as algebra, trigonometry and geometry. However, my academic interests are not limited to math and science. My true academic passion is for French language and literature, which is my second major at my university. I developed this passion at a young age, but mastered the language during my semester abroad in a language-immersion program in Toulouse, France.

I'm a recent graduate from Brown University where I studied Linguistics and French. I teach French at all levels, including AP and SAT subject test prep. I started learning French when I was 5 and it's been an important part of my life so I hope to help others appreciate the language as much as I do! I studied abroad in Senegal, West Africa where I spoke nothing but French for a semester. In college I was a French TA for several semesters.

I am a graduate of Oberlin College and Wesleyan University and I am currently a PhD student at Harvard University. I received my BA in English, my BM in Jazz Studies, and my MA in Ethnomusicology. My PhD research is in West African music. I have many years of experience as a tutor, beginning as a writing tutor for a college writing center, then giving private music lessons, and working as a teaching assistant for undergraduate students in music and African studies courses. I tutor in many different areas, but my passion is in working with students in writing, literature, critical reading, music, and French. In working to prepare students for standardized tests, I can offer a wide variety of strategies for vocabulary, writing, and time management. As an educator, I am particularly interested in the transitions from high school to college, and from college into the professional world. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing and listening to music, hiking, playing soccer, and spending time outdoors.

I am a student at Brown University, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in psychology. I employ a student-centered approach to tutoring, grounding the session in the student's knowledge of what topics it would be most beneficial to review. I typically begin a session by asking a student if there is any material they have learned since the previous session whose reasoning they would like for me to walk them through. I then help the student work through problems or questions that employ that understanding. My favorite subject to tutor is math; I love helping students understand the logic of a subject in which they may have been relying for years on memorization. I have been tutoring since 2016, and I have experience teaching math, science, language arts, history, French, and study skills to students in elementary, middle, and high school. I currently focus on math (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry), English, test prep, and essay writing.

I'm a Chemical Engineering graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (Class of 2021)mand received a full tuition merit scholarship to attend. I am a recent Dartmouth College graduate raised in Philadelphia but now living in the great city of Boston. I just came back from a year living in France, where I taught English to over 200 elementary school students in person and by videoconferencing. My other previous teaching experiences include being a French drill instructor and Linguistics T.A. at Dartmouth, a teaching assistant at the Kimball Union Academy Summer Language Institute, and a Dartmouth Partners in Community Service Fellow at the Chinatown Community Children's Center in San Francisco. I am a graduate of Duke University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and French Language, and a Certificate in Journalism and Media Studies. After graduation I moved to New York City to pursue a career in the television and news industry. I grew up volunteering in the public school systems, and have worked with kids of all ages. I'm currently an MA student in French at Middlebury College, after graduating with my BA from Barnard College at Columbia University in 2014. Overseas, I spent a year at the Sorbonne-Paris. I'm a passionate, patient tutor of both English and French with four years of experience. In both languages, I focus on grammar skills, essay writing, and standardized test preparation, especially the SAT and SAT II. I most often tutor high school and college students, but have found that young children are also some of my favorite to teach! I have additional experience with ESL students and those with learning disabilities, including dyslexia, ADHD and cognitive impairments. Language arts are a true passion of mine, both academically and professionally. As a bilingual writer for the State Department and two publishing companies, I've learned effective writing skills I love to share with students. I believe that each individual learns differently, so I tailor my teaching strategies to every student's needs. Seeing students overcome challenges and meet their goals is always the highlight of my day. When I'm not tutoring, I'm an avid film photographer and an enthusiastic yoga amateur.

I'm a recent graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a B.A. in Biology and Cognitive Science, as well as a minor in French. I'm interested in going back to school for either environmental studies or law, but I still have some deciding to do in that regard! My tutoring experience has been varied, from helping peers with homework, assisting my young nephews and nieces with their reading and writing, to mentoring the younger students at the dance studio I used to attend. These are just some of the ways that I've learned to tutor. My favorite things to tutor are writing and algebra. Both are things that can appear complicated and difficult, but often there is only one stumbling block that a student is having a problem with. Once you isolate the issue, everything becomes simple! My tutoring style is to talk and work through a lot of practice problems together. When the student feels comfortable tackling some practice problems on their own, I know they've mastered the concept. I'm also a great listener; if you tell me that you are having a problem in a certain area of a subject, I can very much tailor the lesson and practice problems to the target area. Outside of school, I spend a lot of my time submerged in water! I love windsurfing, scuba diving, and going to the beach. I'm also a huge, huge fan of snow! I ski every chance I get, and lately I've been getting into snowboarding! When I'm just relaxing, I enjoy a good book, a hot mug of tea, and fuzzy blankets.

I'm a Math and French major at Brown University, and I've been tutoring for over three years. I have worked with young kids taking elementary-level math, middle school students taking Pre-Algebra and Algebra, high school students taking Pre-Calculus and Calculus, college students taking Calculus I/II and Linear Algebra -- and any level in between! Tutoring is one of my favorite activities, because every student I work with teaches me something new about my field. In addition to doing math and writing French poetry, I play the piano, contract bridge, soccer and tennis. I am a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a Master's degree in Management. Before Notre Dame, I studied English Writing and French at Saint Mary's College, and French is by far my tutoring passion. My favorite thing about tutoring is just being able to share the subjects I love with other people. I have previous experience tutoring French and writing at Saint Mary's College, where I have received pedagogical training as a part of my work. I'm Erintrude, a recent graduate of Kenyon College and an MFA candidate at NCSU. I have two years of experience tutoring elementary level reading and writing for two different families, and miscellaneous tutoring experience in the fields of French, English and Test Prep (SAT and ACT). As a co-founder and head editor of a publishing press at my college, for a year and a half I have run workshops where I assigned contemporary literature, and taught these pieces to deepen reader's comprehension. Currently I am teaching a class of high schoolers in a summer program offered by the publishing press. I have experience with World Literature and translation studies as well. I'm passionate about language and I'm passionate about understanding. I tailor my teaching to the student, and in that sense we grow together in an environment of patience, support, and love for learning.
